Local Area: The local area is very small and limited. There are different places to be here and there. If you want a more city life, going off campus to other nearby colleges is your best bit. Periodically, the town has community tag sales or a race to support some causes. There's a farmer's market in the fall which is nice to attend. Once the year starts up there will be concerts/plays you can attend as well. There is one movie theater nearby and a couple of restaurants.

Greek Life: There isn't a Greek Life on campus. It is available on other 5-college campuses if interested.

Athletics: It is common to be on a sport. It will require a lot of time management and how to deal with tight schedule early on.

Off-Campus Dining: It is pretty good! A lot of Asian food options.

Campus Food: There is definitely sometime to eat for everyone regardless of your diet (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, etc.). If you have allergies you can custom order meals a week in advance. Everyone get three meals swipes a day, one swipe per corresponding meal time. Meals are available online for everyone's viewing. We have several different places you can eat. There is Blanchard Student Center where you can get most fast food, junk food, and sandwiches from lunch until midnight usually (only food location with a price limit, otherwise, all other locations are buffet style), and on the weekdays, we have specials and a salad bar. As for other dining halls, we have several different dining halls with different menus. A popular dining hall is Prospect because it has daily special menu on top of it's normal menu.

Majors: Being a dance major allows me to do what I love while freeing up space in my class schedule for all the classes I need to take to go to medical school.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: I think we have a very diverse school but there is a bit of a gap in understanding one another and I would like to work towards unifying us as a whole within those differences through more acceptance

It seems that students come to Mount Holyoke for the academics and stay for the community. Women who come here either quickly discover that they hate it and transfer out, or fall in love with the school and become unable to imagine going anywhere else. The overall sense students have about the College is that it’s more than just a school, and it’s more than a place to study for four years, get your diploma, and be set free—MHC becomes a second home. Its close-knit environment allows students to explore their own boundaries in safety, perhaps try on a few lifestyle changes, and maybe even find a few that stick. You will undoubtedly be exposed to new influences during your time here, as you would at almost any college, but here, you won’t be afraid to call some of those new influences your friends—especially the ones who scared you at first.

Part of what’s so wonderful and unique about this school is the sense that students are really cared about as individuals. Sure, it’s an institution, and sure, there are the occasional oversights where the Registrar forgets to record a grade or some such thing, but most faculty and staff are exceedingly helpful and willing to assist you with whatever difficulty you may be facing, whether it’s a decision to apply to grad school now or later or a mistake in your transcript. The atmosphere of care is contagious—new students quickly catch it from older students, and so the tradition lives on. Things are changing for this institution, as it strives to keep up with modern times and struggles with budget cuts resulting from a bad economy, but it still remains the school generations of women have known and loved, and alumnae still keep coming back to visit and reminisce.
