There are no sororities or fraternities at Montreat College; as such, there are no special housing opportunities. Instead, campus involvement from the students is done via clubs, athletic teams, and other organizations. These activities, as well as the College itself, often host service and social opportunities ranging from cookouts to dances; however, these are not "members only," and there are generally no fees, unlike sorority and fraternity events.

Students looking for a substitute for Greek life won't find it at Montreat. Visible groups tend to form simply because Montreat is small, but the small campus size does make it easy to find other like-minded individuals with which to work, serve, and hang out, regardless of the lack of Greek organizations. The closest Montreat comes to a Greek organization, besides its clubs and teams, is the North Carolina Tau Chapter of Alpha Chi, one of the three most prestigious national honor societies.
