Facts & Statistics

Tips for Getting In
  • Check out the admissions requirements (available online), and make sure you meet the requirements and that they have a program you'll fit into and enjoy.
  • Do a lot of extracurricular activities.
  • Focus on your grades and get them as high as possible.
  • Have your transcripts ready to send.
  • Take the SAT more than once. People generally get a better score the second time they take it.
  • Visit at least once, and several times if you are able.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • All of the campus rules
  • The different majors and their requirements (to see what the best fit is for students)
  • The finicky cell phone service
  • The rules and regulations specifically for athletes (outside of the regular campus rules)
Interviews & Information Sessions
Call the Admissions Office at (828) 669-8012 or toll-free at (800) 622-6968 to schedule interviews and information sessions with various departments. "Open Door Thursdays," which take place every Thursday during the school year, are earmarked by faculty and staff to be as available as possible for interviews and information sessions with prospective students and their parents.
Campus Tours
Campus tours are available most days of the year except for holidays. Contact the Admissions Office to schedule a visit so they can be fully aware of your visit and maximize your experience. Although visitors are welcome weekdays or Saturday, "Open Door Thursdays" are recommended, to get the full community experience of classes, meal times, and chapel.
Overnight Visits
Overnight visits are prearranged for open houses, with current students signing up to host one or two prospective students. These open houses are designed to include overnight visits; however, overnight visits can easily be scheduled during the rest of the school year by contacting the Admissions Office at (828) 669-8012 or toll-free at (800) 622-6968. Students planning to sign up with a sports team can request to be hosted by a current athlete; although requests are not guaranteed, they are generally easily accommodated.
