5 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Midlands is known to be one of the best schools around South Carolina. It offers the best nursing program ever! The teachers are caring, the campus is clean, and the students are friendly. I learn more and more every day.

Academic Experience: Some advisors are not as competent as others. Some occasions it feels like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

Academic Experience: There are a lot of options. I wish there were more classes available in regards to times.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Sometimes it takes multiple visits or phone calls depending on the financial aid representative.

Career Services: I don't really use them but I've not heard any complaints

4 Recent Alumnus

Student Body: There isn't any typical student. There is a myriad of students. I am a working adult I don't get to interact with others in social situations.

Campus Resources: The hours sometimes are a bit short (I work full time). I find the personel very helpful and willing to explain everything to me.

Overall Experience: Financial aid leaves something to be desired and I wish the library had weekend hours.

Online Courses: Contingent on the professor and the course. Online courses can be great and others the professor gives you a work load where they seem to forget you have other things going on.

Academic Experience: The human services field has pros and cons. You learn a lot, but you also encounter an insane workload, with a severely limited amount of options for electives.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: Most classes are easy and simplistic with low workloads

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: There's nothing particularly notable about the campus resources.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Though the tuition is much less expensive than other options, financial aid is left almost entirely to the student to figure out. Sometimes they will mark you incorrectly as an out of county student, and charge you accordingly, with a monstrous amount of paperwork needed to fix THEIR error. Other times, they will tell you incorrect information, or misleading information. They may not know the specific requirements for some of their most commonly awarded scholarships. If you have questions, make sure to get your answers in writing and signed, so that you can hold someone accountable if you get different answers the next time you ask.

Academic Flexibility: Financial aid is a nightmare to work with, and has no desire to actually be helpful. Attendance is mandatory, with a strict absence policy that accounts for absolutely no excuses, regardless of real-life emergencies.

3 College Junior

Student Body: Most people are here temporarily, with other plans on their minds than socializing with new people or creating a good student body experience.

Academic Flexibility: I was very simple transferring my credits from another college. I applied for this college, met with the adviser the following week, and was able to start my course studies the following semester. I have not encountered any hassles or frustrations thus far.

Overall Experience: My experience with the professors and the courses has been very good.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I obtained my cosmetology license in high school, but would like to own my own salon one day. This business/marketing degree will help me to reach that goal. The school does offer job fairs and the career center is very helpful.

3 College Junior

Student Body: I am new at the school and have made a few friends, but not many.

4 College Junior

Online Courses: My math class is a 'modular' class and I really enjoy that type of setting. I like being able to work at my own pace.

4 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: I have cerebral palsy and walking a lot is a challenge. The special needs coordinator at Midlands really helped me a lot in scheduling classes close together and making sure the class times allowed me enough time to walk from building to building.

3 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: I was denied financial aid because my mother cashed in her 401-K in 2013 which put her income up too high. Being that this was a one-time disbursement and not part of her annual income, I do not feel it should have been used in qualifying me for financial aid. We appealed the decisions, it too was declined.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: The individuals in the student center and the library are all very helpful and friendly.

4 College Junior

Career Services: I am not real familiar with what the post-grad services are yet, as I am a new student. The career center is excellent and everyone seems to be very helpful.

5 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: Online classes, evening classes, and the occasional weekend class are always available. I take many online classes and evening classes and love them!
