Campus Quality

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: It's a nice campus. The west part of campus needs to be renovated.

4 College Junior

Campus Quality: MTSU's campus is fairly good, all things considered.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Middle Tennessee State University is always filled with something for the students and faculty to participate in. Greek Life is very active on campus and is always providing opportunities for students to be active on campus. The campus has two sides to it, the new and the old. Most of the major study spots for students are new and contemporary, making the campus feel very clean and relaxing to the students. Some of these study spots are the four-story library, including a Starbucks, many computer labs and study rooms and about every book a college student could need and desire. Other study places on campus are the Student Union Building, which includes a bookstore and four or five food options to have while socializing and studying with friends. Murfreesboro is a very flat city, which makes the walk on campus clear-cut and leisurely. Although the campus lacks hills and definitions in landscape, the campus makes up for it with ample amounts of green spaces and many spots for students to be able to claim a "study tree."

5 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: There is always something to be involved in on campus.

3 College Junior

Campus Quality: The thing about MTSU is the tuition is very inexpensive. What you get for what you pay is very good. The facilities are somewhat nice, the social scene is pretty decent.

Some of the facilities available to students include the recreation center, intramural fields, a music library, various dining facilities, post office, and much more. The recreation center—which has an indoor pool with a slide, an outdoor pool, a rock-climbing wall, a weight room, aerobics, fitness testing, and one-on-one training—is very popular. Intramural and club sports are offered, as well as student adventure trips, such as rafting and camping all over the United States and other countries. These trips are usually reasonably priced and are great opportunities. Or, if you prefer to go solo or with a small group of friends, you can rent camping equipment such as tents, canoes, kayaks, and trailers.

The four-story library is a proud point for the campus. It has almost 936,172 volumes and more than 3,500 newspapers and magazines. The Learning Resource Center is a benefit to visual learners because it has video and audio materials on many topics to improve students' learning experience. It also has many films and other amenities. Currently, the roads on campus and around town are undergoing construction, and new campus buildings are cropping up.

Urban Legends
Davis Market, across from campus on the corner of Main Street and Middle Tennessee Boulevard, is believed by some to be the center of the universe. Due to the alleged magnetic pull from the center of the universe, it is said that once you enter the store, you'll never be able to move from Murfreesboro. And if you do manage to leave, you'll eventually end up returning for good. It is said that the only way to reverse this is by urinating on the stones that mark the geographical center of Tennessee, which is about a half mile from campus on Lascassas Pike. But be warned: The cops will bust you if you're spotted trying to break the curse.
Favorite Things To Do
Movies at the KUC, open mic night The rec center is a popular spot in the evenings as students wind down from their day of classes and prepare for a night of studying. The movie theater in the KUC is improving the movies it shows and only charges a couple of dollars. Students get together and play music near the KUC and the Mass Communication Building. Student services and the athletics department hold free cookouts and concerts on campus for student appreciation and to boost morale and team spirit. Unfortunately, the general consensus is that there really isn't that much to do on campus, but aren't students supposed to be studying and not focusing so much on partying?
