College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I haven't had much experience with off campus housing. All I know is that it is significantly cheaper and a lot of people live off campus.

Off-Campus Dining: If you don't have a car, you will probably only go off campus to eat very few times. The stuff downtown is within walking distance, but it's somewhat expensive. There are some chain restaurants by Walmart but you have to get there first and it gets repetitive going to Applebee's all the time for half off apps.

Administration: Basically, no one cares about anything. Unless someone complains to their RA, they probably won't yell at you for being loud. They never check for alcohol and, if they see that you're drunk, they'll usually just tell you to go back to your room and sleep it off. Nothing is strict at all in the dorms.

Party Scene: I don't party, but my friends always seem to find something good on the weekends. I think the party scene is a lot better than you would expect from an engineering school full of nerds.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Financial aid was not hard to accept or anything. I did not know that the process was a hassle for other people past qualifying for the money. All I had to do was go on BanWeb and select which scholarships I was accepting and they came straight off my student bill.

Campus Food: Realistically, the dining hall food is probably just below average for a university. No dining hall is going to serve a five star meal every night. But our food can be pretty awful. A lot of times I end up just getting cereal and eating snacks back in my dorm. One thing that they do very well is gluten free options. They have a little kitchen in the side of the Wads Dining hall that any gluten allergy students are welcome to use to make their meals. Having a few friends with allergies, they say it has a really good selection.

Campus Housing: I moved from Wads to McNair and, while Wads definitely has nicer facilities, McNair has a much better social atmosphere. McNair (and DHH if I remember correctly) is slightly cheaper than Wads because they are not as updated. Living on campus is somewhat convenient but most people try to move out as soon as possible because it is much cheaper to live off campus. There are a lot of apartments and houses for rent really close to campus so it's not hard to remain within walking distance. Overall, on campus housing is just okay. Nothing too horrible about it, but it's not worth the extra money to stay longer than you have to.

Off-Campus Housing: Rent is crazy high because there are only a few landlords in town so there isn't much competition. The town itself is tiny so everything is decently close no matter where you live. Houses are old for the most part except for the apartments that are going up right now.

Off-Campus Dining: There aren't too many options, the real downside being the lack of Mexican and Indian food, but the places that we have are pretty great. The prices are a little high depending on where you go however.

4 College Student

Administration: Not really much to complain about. Campus safety is friendly and helpful. In addition to this, the administration as a whole is pretty good. Biggest flaw is the limited parking options on-campus.

4 College Student

Party Scene: No complaints about the party scene. No crazy ragers or anything but it's pretty great overall.

3 College Student

Scholarships: They didn't give me a whole lot in the way of financial aid, but friends of mine have gotten decent amounts and the process is fairly simple.

3 College Student

Campus Food: Dining halls can be hit or miss sometimes and the limited dining hours can be a bit of a pain. In addition to this, the prices of the locations that accept dining dollars are a little high for the amount of dining dollars you get per semester, which also contributes to the limitations of the dining services.

Campus Housing: Overall, the on-campus housing is pretty decent. The rooms may not seem super spacious, but compared to other colleges they're great. Everything is kept decently clean and overall everything is pretty good. All of the on campus housing options are close to your classes and are generally convenient. Applying for housing can be a little tricky and stressful, especially if you're a first or second year trying to get into a specific hall or room, but overall it's not terrible.

Off-Campus Housing: Landlords are crooked because they have no competition. The prices are sky high because they can be.

Scholarships: The workers are not helpful and they are crabby at the students. They blame students for their mistakes.

Campus Food: There are no healthy options. The least healthy foods are always on sale.

Campus Housing: I have never lived on campus at Michigan Tech.

3 College Student

Athletics: The Hockey team is basically the biggest thing that the school houses, there are many gaming clubs and diverse activities that the school allows also but most of what I have seen on and around campus involves the hockey team.

3 College Student

Off-Campus Housing: Most of the off-campus housing includes old houses built by the mining community, the houses are usually smaller but they are ample for any college students.

4 College Student

Off-Campus Dining: Local pizza joints are usually run by alumni and have good discounts, the local Dominoes has a deal with the Hockey team here to offer 10 % off for every Husky goal the night before.

3 College Student

Administration: None of the teachers or staff that I have talked to or interacted with have been too strict or hard to deal with. Most teachers take getting used to in terms of ideas or policies in class but otherwise they are very polite.

4 College Student

Campus Food: I get coffee at the the Library's Cafe and it is very well made and reminds me of Starbucks coffee.

College Student

Campus Housing: I do not live on campus currently, but I have visited friends who do live there and the rooms are slightly small but well made and the dorms are very good. None of the rooms are freezing or burning up during certain seasons
