Administration: I'm by no means a "partiers" but I really do with that the school was a little more strict or nosey. There is too much rule slippage for me.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Is it sad to say I personally know everyone who delivers for all restraints in the area? Well I can say there are a lot of them and they are all great!

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: Amazing variety! It is actually surprising how many unique people have meet in my short time here!

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: I never had been into sports but here they catch my attention every so often. Mostly I choose to study and sleep instead of being in a screaming crowd. The few(as in two) times I have been to a sporting event the students seemed to really enjoy themselves.

Off-Campus Housing: Many off campus apartments are available at low cost in somewhat questionable neighborhoods, but typically considered safe. The university is mostly made up of students who life at home with their parent until they graduate or their degree requir3es them to move to the main Oxford campus. The cost of these local apartments are in the range of a part time student worker. Reviews and information on these apartments give good ratings to the landlords and quality of the apartments. However, "safe" the area is claimed to be it would not be wise to live alone, especially not for a young female.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: The bus system is incredibly helpful but the schedule is rather confusing.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: The nightlife is always popping, always a party or something to do probably too active if anything.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: I actually prefer off campus dining way more than on campus housing, the only problem i have is that i have so much money on my meal plan that i rarely even use.

Greek Life: Greek life on campus is stereotypical just like those in the movies.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: In the academics sector I feel like all the attention and funding goes to the business students. There is a chain of command affiliated within the various schools and college degree programs on campus and its as though the business students has all the perks and amenities that the rest of the student body population in other degree programs are unable to receive.

Academics: My major program is very competitive. One major thing that I dislike about the program is the lack of various teachers and classes. Classes are only offered at one set time with one set teacher, so if a student was to fail a class he/she has to them repeat the class with the same instructor not only trying to excel greater than they had done before but also now fighting the biases the teacher has/had formed against him from the previous year.

Guys & Girls: Students there confirm to the typical stereotype of being a "Miami Girl" or "Frat boy". Its as though everyone is a carbon copy of one another, lacking overall individuality. Because of this "standard" if you do not conform to their standards you are shut out and isolated from the bulk of the population, but if you do submit yourself to this transformation you them become just another mirrored image of someone else. I feel like this school accepted all the "cool kids" and "mean girls" from high school and threw them all in one place to interact with one another…something like survival of the fittest or a modern realistic version of the hunger games trilogy.

Administration: Emphasis is placed in areas that are unnecessary or those that serves as an outlet for the school to make a quick buck on the students.

Campus Food: The food on campus is absolutely HORRIBLE! it shocks me how during orientation they glorified the vast food choices they created for their students when in reality the food is the same every day, there is no variety and furthermore the food is usually very oily and lacking nutritional value. I have also witnessed some of my friends who are gluten-free have a hard time finding meals that fit their dietary needs.

Athletics: I myself, am not a sports person, but what i have realized in my attendance at miami is that sports is obviously not their main priority. I say this because the investments are not placed on athletes for there performance obviously displays the quality in the training they are receiving.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I feel the dorms on campus are severely outdated! The environment itself doesn't help either being that one is not placed in the dorms (with doormats or roommates) based on similarities with one another. I feel like the school just pitches everyone randomly into rooms without careful consideration of how compatible they are.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: The only benefit I see coming from Miami, is their new construction additions and developments that have been recently added to the campus life.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Student Life on campus is strictly routined throughout the year, and quite frankly it gets old rather quickly. I feel that the school should step up and create opportunities and functions for their students to have outlets to de-stress and just have fun.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Campus transportation is okay, not exceptionally outstanding. The major problem I have with the campus transportation is that every semester he schedule drastically changes resulting in one having to once again figure out the complex bus system in comparison to their schedule. I also dislike the fact that their is no shuttles that simply run to the neighboring cities on the weekends on various trips. Its as though we live in the middle of nowhere and the school just turns a blind eye to the depressive and anxiety that causes students.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing is available through various apartment complexes or in homes that can be rented located nearby the campus. Miami University plays no part in assisting you with obtaining off campus housing.

1 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I feel that as a student who not only adds to the diversity pile of the campus through my ethnicity and birthplace/cultural contributions, i believe that my financial aid package should have not only reflected these sentiments but furthermore been a considerable amount being that I am also a student who displays great merit. I feel as though the school does not care to give you financial assistance unless you individually are paying your way through to college. Because of this there is obviously a gender, race, and cultural gap in the universities population.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: One main issue associated with the safety in this school is the vast amount of unlit walkways that are present throughout the campus.

2 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The university itself feels heavily segregated, instead of being a "home away from home" one is trapped and isolated from the world around them. Initial exposure to the school makes one realize that their is a major issue in creating and making friends and comfortable associates one can confide and hang out with. Everyone seems to look down on each other instead of creating a comfortable environment for all to enjoy.

Greek Life: Not a part of greek life, but it's very prominent on campus. It really doesn't matter if you're involved in Greek life or not. It gives you an immediate family if you are, but if not, you can easily be friends with those involved. Greek life throws a lot of parties and is very involved in community and Miami events. They also host a lot of fundraisers which can be entertaining and fun to participate in.

Athletics: It's not really a prime thing except for hockey. Intramurals are fun, but not consistent.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

There’s an old saying that goes, “You can make a big school small, but you can’t make a small school big.” The overall experience at Miami University is different for every student, but most seem to have enjoyed their time here, and most will agree that the former part of this statement is representative of Miami. Miami is not a huge school, but it is large enough to feel like a big university without being overwhelming. It is essential to find a niche when you arrive; otherwise, you may get lost in the shuffle. One of the best ways to determine if you will like Miami is to take into consideration what is important to you in a school and to really weigh your options. Visit the campus and ask questions—this is the next four or five years of your life. If Miami does not fulfill an important need you have, it probably isn’t the school for you, and there are people here who feel like they don’t belong.

Nobody enjoys school 100 percent of the time, but the students at Miami have a plethora of options, both social and academic, at their doorsteps. At Miami, you cannot be afraid to try new things, talk to new people, or grow as an individual. However, this is true no matter where you decide to attend college. Overall, the most important fact to take away from this guide is that most students feel that they made the right decision in attending Miami.
