Party Scene: Miami university is nothing but a party campus. I believe some students go there for the parties instead of getting a college degree!

Off-Campus Housing: The school sends information to students constantly about availability and new options.

Off-Campus Dining: No student discounts are given off campus. There are a bunch of different varieties and chain options that are familiar.

Administration: If you do dumb things to get in trouble, they will step in and will affect your schooling.

Scholarships: Getting scholarships from the school are hard. You have to have outstanding grades. getting the random scholarships are the best because you can apply to many different ones.

Party Scene: The parties take place in uptown. If you're into partying then this is a good place to be. there are a few bars with dance clubs if you like that as well.

Campus Food: The food is usually god. I've had a few bad experiences but they were mostly due to the staff being rushed because of being swamped. We have a lot of great options here.

Campus Housing: Living on campus is the best. Luckily for me my dorm is right across from a dining hall. Everyone is very friendly here and we mesh well together.

Campus Housing: Campus is organized well, buildings are easy to find, and nothing is more than 15 minutes walking distance.

Campus Housing: Although I have always been a commuter, I have visited and heard about enough dorm rooms to know that the housing situation is pretty good and it seems that Miami University is trying to constantly improve the dorms.

Guys & Girls: Miami is renowned for our beautiful people. The gorgeous girls at Miami take my breath away. Hoping to find a Miami Merger out of all these great gals.

Overall Experience: I absolutely love Miami University. An amazing social life, great people, fun events, and just an overwhelming feeling of school spirit. I believe there is a place for everyone at Miami if you're willing to look for it. I am very comfortable knowing I will spend and love my college experience at this school.

Overall Experience: A degree from Miami looks fantastic. We have a 93% placement rate 6 months after graduating. Miami is called "Ohio's Public Ivy" for a reason.

Greek Life: Miami is heavily influenced by Greek life. This is a school built upon tradition and Greek life can be a huge part of that. Not "everyone" is in Greek life here (I am not), but it does play a huge role in the social environment. Greeks throw a lot of parties and run some big events on campus. It can be a lot of fun if it's something you want out of college. If you really want to get involved in Greek life, this can be a huge plus for you at Miami. However, if you do not wish to get into Greek life, most people here are generally accepting of that and you can still have a lot of fun as a "GDI".

Off-Campus Dining: Plenty of places to grab a bite to eat in Uptown Oxford. It can be a little pricey but almost all of the dining options are diverse and fantastic.

Party Scene: The social life is outstanding at Miami. There are plenty of parties to participate in if you know people. Social life is easy to get involved in. TONS of bars that are age 18+ (Brick, 45, New Bar, etc.). Oxford Hookah Lounge is a fantastic hookah bar to hang out with. If you want to do something on any given night in Oxford, there's going to be something happening. If you want a college with a great social scene, Miami University is for you.

Campus Food: Miami Dining is definitely not something to write home about. I will admit that there are often plenty of options to choose from, but often dining is incredibly crowded. Trying to find a seat to eat your meal at lunchtime in Armstrong can often be an adventure. The pricing is also a bit high. However, some places such as Encounter Burgers at Maplestreet and Sunday super brunch give it some points back. Overall, it's a pretty good dining experience. At least there's always somewhere to eat.

Campus Housing: Honestly housing can be a pain at Miami. Some of the dorms are old and can be uncomfortable. They are also a bit pricey, and if living in a dorm isn't for you, then you might not enjoy Miami. Its mandatory to live in the dorms for two years minimum at Miami, and the only way out of that is to live in a fraternity house. The school prides itself on sticking to traditions. The dorms are can be very nice however, but I recommend you really get a feel of what you're living space will be like if you want to attend Miami.

Off-Campus Dining: For a small town, Oxford has wonderful restaurants.

Administration: Good transportation, but isolated in Oxford.

3 College Student

Scholarships: They need to change their scholarship system.

Party Scene: Good, if one likes to party. A nuisance if one doesn't.

Campus Food: The quality is wonderful. However, the prices are ludicrous.

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: Was told my parents made too much money to receive money. But my Dad had been unemployed until a little more than halfway through my senior year and still only has a part time job. So I find it ridiculous!

Health & Safety: Health center sends you to McCullough Hyde for everything and they are terrible.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

There’s an old saying that goes, “You can make a big school small, but you can’t make a small school big.” The overall experience at Miami University is different for every student, but most seem to have enjoyed their time here, and most will agree that the former part of this statement is representative of Miami. Miami is not a huge school, but it is large enough to feel like a big university without being overwhelming. It is essential to find a niche when you arrive; otherwise, you may get lost in the shuffle. One of the best ways to determine if you will like Miami is to take into consideration what is important to you in a school and to really weigh your options. Visit the campus and ask questions—this is the next four or five years of your life. If Miami does not fulfill an important need you have, it probably isn’t the school for you, and there are people here who feel like they don’t belong.

Nobody enjoys school 100 percent of the time, but the students at Miami have a plethora of options, both social and academic, at their doorsteps. At Miami, you cannot be afraid to try new things, talk to new people, or grow as an individual. However, this is true no matter where you decide to attend college. Overall, the most important fact to take away from this guide is that most students feel that they made the right decision in attending Miami.
