3 College Freshman

Campus Food: The food choices and prices are ok but the town offers better options.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: On campus there are housing units that include tanning beds, pools, etc. It's a little crowded right now though, with the school trying to find new places for construction.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: I'd eat uptown every day if i could.

Administration: The administration is here to make life good.

Party Scene: All of the parties I've been to have been amazing!

Campus Food: The food is amazing, but overpriced. Sometimes it can be gross, but thats not often.

Campus Housing: My dorm this year is okay. The building and staff are amazing, but the residents can be slobs at times.

5 College Freshman

Party Scene: I am not a drinker, but i do like to party . I can usually find a party when i look for one. The drinkers however tend to take it up several notches, as it is one of the country's largest party schools.

Campus Food: I am a vegetarian & at first it was a bit hard to choose healthy options. As i learned the campus dining options I have found that they have pretty good food.

Campus Housing: I love living on Miami campus. The dorms are comfortable for the cost. They have a fabulous rec center, pools. The staff are extremely helpful, dining is average for the cost. I have made some great friends that i expect will be longtime friends.

Off-Campus Housing: All of the houses off campus are extremely overpriced and run down. Apartments are a lot more reasonably priced but are further away from campus.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: A lot of different dining choices but it can get pricy.

3 College Freshman

Administration: It has it's strengths and weaknesses. Parking officers will watch and wait until someone parks in the wrong zone just to ticket them. But the RA's on campus take underage drinking very seriously and uphold the standards well.

Scholarships: It took a few times communicating back and forth with the bursar office before I received financial aid, and it wasn't even close to covering half of the costs of my tuition.

5 College Freshman

Party Scene: Miami is a constant party. The only day of the week that people usually don't go out is on Sunday's and Monday's. Every other day is totally expectable to go out and party.

Campus Food: The food is all great and I have never complained about the food options. But the pricing is absolutely ridiculous.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living on campus is great and really nice compared to other campuses I have visited previously. But I don't believe it is worth the expense.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I don't have a house or apartment yet but from what I have seen and heard from others it can be a pleasant experience but there are others who would not agree.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There's something uptown for whatever mood you are in.

3 College Freshman

Administration: The school seems to be be strict on the wrong issues. People drink and smoke but the police are more worried about some sober guy pushing a guy in line.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I had a lot of issues with my financial aid and some departments were not exactly willing to help me. It was very frustrating.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: There is always someone who wants to do something.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: The food itself isn't bad. the problem is that all of it overpriced for what we are getting.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: It's not the greatest, but I don't think it is the worst either. A lot of the people in the dorm are annoying and the rules aren't all that enforced. The cleanliness is kind of lacking, and the cost is something to not be desired.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

There’s an old saying that goes, “You can make a big school small, but you can’t make a small school big.” The overall experience at Miami University is different for every student, but most seem to have enjoyed their time here, and most will agree that the former part of this statement is representative of Miami. Miami is not a huge school, but it is large enough to feel like a big university without being overwhelming. It is essential to find a niche when you arrive; otherwise, you may get lost in the shuffle. One of the best ways to determine if you will like Miami is to take into consideration what is important to you in a school and to really weigh your options. Visit the campus and ask questions—this is the next four or five years of your life. If Miami does not fulfill an important need you have, it probably isn’t the school for you, and there are people here who feel like they don’t belong.

Nobody enjoys school 100 percent of the time, but the students at Miami have a plethora of options, both social and academic, at their doorsteps. At Miami, you cannot be afraid to try new things, talk to new people, or grow as an individual. However, this is true no matter where you decide to attend college. Overall, the most important fact to take away from this guide is that most students feel that they made the right decision in attending Miami.
