4 College Freshman

Academics: Professors are very helpful and genuinely care about your success. However, the registration is not fun---you often times will not get classes you need. On the bright side, professors are usually very helpful and will force-add you into their class if you reach out to them. The course load is manageable and professors seem to realize we have lives outside of the classroom.

Athletics: Athletics are pretty important, but we have great facilities for athletics.

Overall Experience: I personally love my university. I was literally born to go to Miami.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The university tries to say that everyone should be themselves and it is not like the preppy reputation it has. But, after being there for a couple weeks everyone seems to morph into preppy.

Overall Experience: Miami's education program is good, but it's environment towards students of color and international students is bad.

Overall Experience: A great place to call him, Miami University is the picturesque college town. A beautiful campus full of beautiful people is exactly what you'll get when applying to Miami. While the football team is poor, the hockey team with fill you with school spirit as you cheer them on win after win. Academics depend on your major but are challenging. Fantastic dorms newly renovated.

Overall Experience: I absolutely love it here. The people are nice and outgoing (also beautiful), and there is a lot going on all the time. There is a big party scene here and Greek Life is very popular. But if going uptown isn't your thing, there are a number of clubs and other activities at any given time. Freshman dorms aren't too bad, especially if you got a renovated one. The food is much better than what I've seen on other campuses and professors offer office hours throughout the week for help.

Overall Experience: I have had a wonderful experience at Miami University. The professors and staff have always been helpful. I have had the wonderful opportunity of studying abroad and plan to do so again. I also belong to campus organizations and the equestrian team. The overall experience at MU has been very fulfilling. I would tell anyone to take a look at this university because there is something for everyone.

Overall Experience: A lot of the kids here didn't have a ton of experience in terms of social life in high school, so when they come to Miami they go nuts. Greek life is huge here, which is almost impairing at times even if you are involved in it. Greek Recruitment tends to be pretty shallow and based on looks instead of communal personality which I found disappointing. They say we have a student to faculty ratio of 21:1, but classes tend to be so large that it's hard to develop any personal relationship with your teachers. Make sure you are prepared for extremely packed parties and a bar focused night life as opposed to a more social, networking drinking experience. The boys here aren't very nice or courteous, and tend to be the typical Frat boy.

Overall Experience: Being thrown into college, not knowing anyone, can be a very scary and intimidating thing! I, for one, was terrified! However, the first day I arrived on campus I learned of a block party for just the freshman put on by the school. There was food, games, and dancing; I was able to meet so many new friends and still talk to them today. This awesome experience made college not so scary. Now I have a bunch of great, new friends thanks to the attention my University gave to helping freshman get to know each other.

Overall Experience: The arts program at Miami is pretty good. I just wish they had better facilities that match the quality of other buildings.

Overall Experience: Everything about Miami University is exactly what every college student dreams of. I enjoy going to every single one of my classes because of how engaging the lessons are and how much the professors care about the education of their students. Miami also offers ways to be successful outside of academics, like being part of the 500+ clubs

Overall Experience: Miami is, summed up, the iconic college experience. The lifelong friends and memories you make here are irreplaceable, and the knowledge you come out with is well worth the cost of tuition. Miami is very much a work-hard play-hard school, and this is one of its strongest characteristics. The beauty of the campus is just the cherry on top. Miami grads look at their college experience as the best four years of their lives, and it's easy to see why.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

There’s an old saying that goes, “You can make a big school small, but you can’t make a small school big.” The overall experience at Miami University is different for every student, but most seem to have enjoyed their time here, and most will agree that the former part of this statement is representative of Miami. Miami is not a huge school, but it is large enough to feel like a big university without being overwhelming. It is essential to find a niche when you arrive; otherwise, you may get lost in the shuffle. One of the best ways to determine if you will like Miami is to take into consideration what is important to you in a school and to really weigh your options. Visit the campus and ask questions—this is the next four or five years of your life. If Miami does not fulfill an important need you have, it probably isn’t the school for you, and there are people here who feel like they don’t belong.

Nobody enjoys school 100 percent of the time, but the students at Miami have a plethora of options, both social and academic, at their doorsteps. At Miami, you cannot be afraid to try new things, talk to new people, or grow as an individual. However, this is true no matter where you decide to attend college. Overall, the most important fact to take away from this guide is that most students feel that they made the right decision in attending Miami.
