Campus Quality: The MGH IHP has the unique connection to one of the best hospitals in the nation, which gives students access to incredible clinical placements and recourses associated to the hospital. The school is located in the picturesque Charlestown Navy Yard, the school offers new and high tech study spaces overlooking the harbor. Faculty come from a diverse background of interests and specialty areas are eager to help and assist with assignments and career interests.

Transportation: There are shuttles from the train station to the school. That saves a ton on transportation prices

3 College Junior

Campus Food: There are few places on campus but there are many places right around the campus.

Guys & Girls: There are all sorts of people at MGH. People from the city, people of all ethnicities. As a nursing major I spent most of my time with women. The girls are awesome and mostly good friends.

Diversity: The students are from many diverse backgrounds at MGH Institute of Health Professionals. The school has a large population of Asian and Caucasian students, but there is a small percentage of African American and Hispanic students

Transportation: The school provides shuttle services to and from the local train station and to and from Mass. General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital and Spaulding Hospital which are the hospitals where all the nursing students have their clinical. The shuttle is very convenient and it runs very 15 mins. There is also a bus stop in front of the institute which I use every day to go to and from home.

Local Area: Not much to do within walking distance, but close to downtown boston

Academics: One of the main reasons I selected this school was because it offered the Dual Adult Gerontology/ Women's Health track for the direct entry nurse practitioner program. Also, the school begins clinical placement during your very first semester which means that I will be given ample experience in not only learning but also successfully applying the tools necessary for me to become a nurse. The workload may definitely seem overwhelming at first but you are given the option to take certain classes the summer before your second year which would allow you to lighten your workload for your second year. There is likewise the option to attend school part time once you receive your RN and then you could also work at that time as well.

Technology: The school has certain requirements that must be met with regards to a student's computer (for example, the most up to date Microsoft Suite and either Windows Vista or MAC OS x 10.5). Since several of the courses are either strictly online or a combination of classroom and online, it is strongly recommended that each student owns a reliable computer. It is also worth mentioning that the necessary encryption software is provided and there is help if need for installation.

Health & Safety: Even though there is a shuttle available for students to take to get them to public transportation, it still would be nice if public transportation were more accessible especially at night as well as for when the weather is inclement as the shuttle becomes crowded very easily.

3 College Junior

Majors: It is a lock step program

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Very happy, challenging, but a good program and I will be prepared after graduation

3 College Junior

Majors: To get into the MGH program you have to complete your Bachelors degee with required prerequisite classes and a descent GPA. Not an easy program to get into.

5 College Junior

Weather: When it snows like the storm we had yesterday. Classes yesterday and today were canceled. Although, we didn't have class either of these days. When the weather is nice, its the best.

5 College Junior

Technology: Everyone has their own lab top. Only the student areas get crowded so finding a place to sit sometimes can be a pain.

Parking: There is parking, but it is pricey and a 10 minute walk from campus. A hospital is being built nearby, and the students were told this year that we will be losing access to that garage. Soon, our only option will be a small parking garage that is closer to campus, but twice as expensive and it has MUCH less parking availability.

Off-Campus Dining: Plenty of great restaurants in the area. Some are expensive, yet delicious!

5 College Junior

Local Area: Beautiful area, by the water front/ Navy yard. Minutes away from Boston.

Campus Food: MGH Cafeteria – The Navy Yard MGH building has a decent cafeteria.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Extremely Safe – Campus Police are always around. They are actual police officers, not security guards. Will accompany you to your car. They are always checking the buildings, are available for help, are all trained in BLS. Excellent resource. I always feel completely safe around school.
