Facts & Statistics

Tips for Getting In
  • Do well on the SATs.
  • Emphasize your commitment to your faith.
  • Get good grades.
  • Participate in extracurricular activites.
  • Volunteer-Messiah places great emphasis on service.
  • Write a great essay. Be honest and bold.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Every freshman gets $100 in flex money per semester that can be used for food at the Union and the Falcon only. Use it early because any money that is left over at the end of the semester is lost.
  • Go to B-sides, a concert series held every Wednesday at 10 p.m. at the Union. It is well-attended by students (underclassmen and upperclassmen alike) and may be your only chance to socialize during the week.
  • Messiah has a very small student body. Sometimes it feels like everybody knows everybody and their business. This can be extremely suffocating and annoying, especially for students from large high schools or anyone who enjoys their privacy.
  • The campus is good at keeping the outside world out, and as a result students have nicknamed it the "Messiah Bubble." After a while, living on campus will feel very isolated and suffocating, like nothing else exists. There is no convenient way to get off campus without a car. Your first trip into Harrisburg will have you proclaiming in excitement, "Woah! This is really all here?!"
  • The freshman dating scene at Messiah is not very active. Don't be discouraged if you don't have a boyfriend or girlfriend during your first year; most students are more interested in adjusting to the college experience and having fun. Instead, focus on getting to know others and forming friendships. The dating scene heats up sophomore year, and there will be plenty of time to find a boyfriend or girlfriend then (and it will most likely be one of the friends you made freshman year)!
Interviews & Information Sessions
Information sessions are available most weekdays during the school year and summer, as well as during open houses. Individual information sessions can be accompanied by a campus tour, class preview, meeting with professor or coach, and a meal in the student dining room. Go to or call (800) 233-4220 to schedule a visit. Admissions interviews are not required for students submitting SAT or ACT scores; however, they may be requested by the admissions office.
Campus Tours
Just like information sessions, campus tours are available most weekdays throughout the school year and summer, as well as during open houses. If you're coming to campus for a tour, you can also schedule an information session, class preview, meeting with coach or professor, and a meal in the student dining room. Go to or call (800) 233-4220 to schedule a visit.
Overnight Visits
Overnight visits are available during the school year October through April. Students will receive two meal tickets for use in the student dining room. Overnight visits can also be accompanied by an individual day visit. To schedule, visit or call (800) 233-4220.
