I'm in the Ophthalmic tech. program and things have been rough this year. This is a new program at the school, so there are still some "kinks" to work out, but as a student it would be great if the teachers communicated a little better. When one class has two teachers and a teacher asks the students what the other teacher has taught us so far, it's a little concerning. Also, I feel that in some classes the lecture material and the quiz and test material do not always match up. I realize this is because one person will create and give the lectures and another will create the quizzes and tests, but it would make studying more effective for students if there were more continuity between lectures and graded materials. On a positive note, the financial aid department at Mercy is wonderful! My financial aid advisor is very kind and helpful, as is his boss. Mrs. Erwin is very knowledgeable about the scholarships and loans available to the students and she is very kind as well. I couldn't be happier with the financial aid department!

This is my first semester doing my actual classes towards my degree of nursing. I find it exciting and very helpful that this school is connected with one of the local big hospital systems. Because of this the equipment we us in lab is the exact same equipment we will encounter out there on the floors of the hospitals. This helps be better prepared when we do get to our clinical. Also, all procedures are practiced, even on each other. It is not like some schools that say you will get that experience in the field, you get it when you are learning with Mercy!

So far, my experiences at Mercy College of Ohio have been great! I am currently attending for my Bachelor's Degree, but I did earn my Associate's Degree here as well. The atmosphere is close-knit, and it really promotes an optimal learning experience. Having a close relationship with professors and classmates really made me choose Mercy College in the first place, and being able to learn and grow into the person I am today has been undoubtedly influenced by my choice to attend here.
