The dining hall is pretty mediocre. The food isn't inedible, but it's definitely not great. In comparison to larger schools' dining halls, like the KSU Commons, Mercer's dining hall has a lot less variety and a lower quality of food. The only things I would recommend from the dining hall are the cookies and grilled cheese sandwiches. The University Center and Mercer Village restaurants are definitely the best places to eat. They include Chick-Fil-A, Subway, Burger Studio, Margarita's Mexican Grill, Jittery Joe's, Ingleside Village Pizza, Fountain of Juice, and Francar's Buffalo Wings. Unfortunately, if you are a freshman living on campus, you are required to get the unlimited swipes meal plan. That means you can eat at the dining hall as much as you want, but you only get $200 per semester for the other dining options. Make sure you take advantage of the student discounts at restaurants off campus. Mercer students get 10% off at Moe's Southwest Grill!

I really like living on campus. It's great to be near friends and my classes. However, some of mercer's dorms are in serious need of renovation. The dorm that I stayed in during my freshman year had serious problems with moisture. Some of the rooms and bathrooms clearly had mold and mildew in them. Some of the windows were not well insulated, so in the winter months cold air could seep through. However, the sophomore dorms are much better! I really like the dorm that am living in now with my three roommates. There is plenty of, even extra, space for all of us, so it gives everyone their own private space. As for the housing process, it is pretty simple. For the freshmen, their housing options are primarily determined by when they submitted their enrollment deposit. Those who submitted them earlier have first choice.

I love Mercer! It was my first choice when I was applying to colleges. Today, my parents still ask me my opinion about about Mercer, and I tell them that if I was applying to colleges all over again, I would choose Mercer again. Since being at school, I have learned a lot about myself, and I have been challenged several times to grow qualities about myself that I have never before tried to enhance. One of the aspects of Mercer that I greatly appreciate is the amount of experience that I have gained. I am a sophomore majoring in Journalism, and since I have been at Mercer, I have been able to work in multiple positions in this field. When people ask me how I like Mercer, I tell them that it has certainly been a learning experience, both about myself and the field that I am studying.
