4 College Senior

Overall Experience: Love this place. Suggest it for anyone coming from high school and older students as well.

Academic Experience: They make you take a lot of gen-eds, which is boring as hell, but what CC doesn't make you do that?

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: Had a bad experience with my first community college. MCC sets you up for success.

Academic Flexibility: Don't know much about transferring my credits yet

Online Courses: Lots of different basic, general Ed classes. Some of the availability didn't ethuse me.

3 Recent Alumnus

Career Services: Don't really know much about the transferring process.

4 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: It was nice staying home for a year. I could still work and go to school and it was easy to manage.

5 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: They had free application night for my school so I took advantage of that and it was very easy to apply as well!

4 Recent Alumnus

Academic Experience: Took a lot of challenging classes and pushed myself to see how much I could take on in a semester

3 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: It's a great school for the price I pay!

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: What i like about my school is that it is not as expensive as other schools and that the teacher's actually care.

3 College Senior

Academic Experience: There are not that many resources at my school.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: I love how affordable this college is.

Online Courses: I took Microeconomics online and I had a terrible experience. I am not a student who gets a lot from reading a textbook and watching videos. I do better in the class where I can ask questions and apply the material better. It is convenient.

4 College Senior

Career Services: I have received a couple letters of recommendations from MCC. I was also advised to check out the careers center. I have yet to do that.

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: I love being in a class with few students. I am the type of student that sits in the front and asks a lot of questions. The instructors are happy to answer your questions and they encourage student involvement in the lectures. A lot of instructors have taught at big universities or have a lot of experience in their field. You can tell that they are passionate when the speak. There is a lot of variety of classes, and many certificates, and associates that you can receive at MCC.

Overall Experience: I believe Northern Illinois University and many other university would accept my associate degree in science. I am going to try to apply for a job at MCC this summer. I would like to work along some of the great employees at MCC.

5 College Senior

Academic Experience: The instructors often get to know their students. For example, I have gotten three letters of recommendation from my instructors. They are there to watch you succeed. I have had a lot of great instructors who know what they are talking about. I have gotten better education from attending lecture in-class as opposed to online. You have to work hard to get the grades you desire. I haven't worked as a student employee at MCC but I am planning to do so in the summer.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: I am a first generation student and the application process was a little more difficult for me than most. There are people in every office who want to help you. McHenry County College allowed for me to have a personalized education. My academic achievement was valued on an individual level. They have amazing Honors Societies. I personally am a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and Psi Beta National Honors Society. At the beginning, I didn't know much about scholarships or FAFSA but after attending MCC I am more familiar with the process. They have a lot of scholarship opportunities available specifically to MCC students every semester.

3 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: There are some classes where there are only one instance offered, and this is hard for flexibility. I have been forced to have to go to school at bad or awkward times in a schedule due to the fact that some courses are offered at only one time, or there is only one class. For the more general classes this isn't a problem, but for high level math or science classes it is.

Online Courses: Canvas, which is MCC's online software is very good. It's pretty user friendly, and has a lot of nice features. The workload for online courses is pretty light to me, and I thought they were very easy compared to actual in-class. But that could be my style of learning.

3 College Sophomore

Career Services: I haven't heard any good things about the career center, but I haven't heard bad things either. I'd say its about average for a community college.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Some professors are good, others are bad. It's really hit and miss. I really wish they would change around the professors that have bad track reccords; they are not helping students! But the good professors are there as well, so I think in general, the school is great.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: There is a career center on campus, which is okay. There are constantly recruiters for other colleges, but not so much buisnesses. I'm not really sure about the job prospects, but I don't think there are many, or at least not that I know of.

2 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: Honestly. For computer science, at a two year school you're not going to be getting a lot. I'm mostly in this for the general education, so the "bad" rating isn't really the schools fault. You're just not going to be getting computer science experience anywhere for your first few years.
