Party Scene

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: It's as ok as it can be considering we're so small. There's Happy Valley, which usually has something every weekend. Howland does too, but more on a personal/friend basis. Underage wise, we go by a "you're 21, right?" basis. But we all watch out for each others safety.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Happy Valley usually has something going on every weekend. It's a good way to get away from things for a few hours after a long week.

2 College Freshman

Party Scene: I am not a fan of the parties at Marlboro. There aren't really enough people to make it entertaining and the same few songs get played at every one.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: School is definitely the number one focus here. That said, Marlboro students know how to GET. DOWN. Day drinking on beautiful fall/spring days is common at our beautiful campus, but only if you've got your work squared away. Broomball is certainly a hot spot for swigging from flasks or handles and getting rowdy. Dancing is really popular at house parties.

3 College Junior

Party Scene: Parties range in quality. There usually is something going on each night, whether its a movie night, or a dance party. They are inclusive in the sense that a wide range of people show up to parties, and nearly all parties (unless they are just small gathering of a few friends) aren't invite only. There is a relatively safe drinking scene as RA's often go to parties to ensure that everyone is doing okay, and to enjoy the party themselves.

The party scene at Marlboro is as diverse as the personalities on its campus. You want a party? OK. You want Gandhi, Britney Spears music, or Lord of the Rings involved? You make it happen. Whether it's a school-sponsored event like the ever-popular Queer Homecoming or a student-organized party like the smokin' Halloween Party, you'll be sure to see people from all parts of the campus come out to participate. On campus, when two or more people get together, it's automatically considered a party. Whether it's a nice meal friends have cooked together or a movie marathon starring Kevin Bacon, it all counts as having fun. Some parties are pretty disorganized and sparsely attended, while others have creative themes and concepts and involve the whole campus. One night, you could be listening to a New Age band performing in the campus center, and the next, you'll be shakin' your thang to Kylie Minogue in the library.

Off campus, the town of Brattleboro offers fun hippie caf├ęs, movie theaters, and shopping. Though usually not a happening night spot, once a month Brattleboro does have Gallery Walk, where all the stores and galleries stay open late to display and celebrate local artists. This is the time when most students venture into town after dark. You never know what characters you'll meet!
