4 College Junior

Athletics: The men's basketball team has out shined most of the other teams. Baseball is also really popular.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Athletics are definitely very important at Marietta College, especially considering a good amount of people on campus are involved because it is a smaller school. The fan support of some of the sports like basketball and baseball are not solely from the students but from people in the community and it was an incredible experience to see an entire town come together for a sporting event.

4 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: As a student athlete, I felt very important to the campus and appreciated by others for my hard work.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: I would say sporting events and sports in general are about average. I do not really attend any of the events or participate in them, so I do not know exactly how they are.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: The facilities are great but the programs were not. People paid more attention to pick up basketball game than to their normal varsity sport

Many students here participate in a sport during the fall, winter, or spring seasons; however, varsity sports are probably one of the biggest disappointments that Marietta students face. While a few of the teams are strong, many are fairly weak. Part of this could be because of the tough competition Marietta faces in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). Although many of the sporting events are blowouts not in Marietta's favor, students still find it fun to go and cheer on friends and get into the spirit of the college. The crew and baseball teams have received the most recognition when it comes to talent and success, but the cross country and track and field teams have recently become some of the more noticed teams.

Intramural sports are a completely different story from the varsity athletics. Students look forward to each season of intramurals when they get to create their own team, be placed in a league, and compete against other teams, all in the spirit of fun. There are even tournaments where the overall winners get to face the toughest competition.

School Spirit
Marietta is full of spirit. For most students, this was their first-choice school, so they don't really want to be anywhere else. The staff also takes pride in the school; some staff members have been here for more than 40 years! Nearly every student has worn a T-shirt, hoodie, or shorts with the Marietta logo at some point both on and off campus. Students are proud to say that Marietta is where they are working toward their degree and are spending their time. Current students really enjoy educating students who are interested in coming here. Even though Marietta's athletics are not the strongest, students still attend the games and cheer on their friends and classmates as much as possible. It common to see bare-chested upperclassman guys painted blue and white, and girls dress up, as well.
Getting Tickets
Every sporting event is free. Tickets aren't necessary for students-just present your student ID at the gate/door to get in.
