3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: The college does not allow for off campus housing, you are only able to live off campus if you are a registered commuter of a non conventional student

4 College Junior

Administration: The adminstration take care of the students. Not everyone is going to enjoy them but they do their jobs well

3 College Junior

Scholarships: I recieved scholarships and when my grade dropped after a hard semester the college worked to keep my financial aid so that i could still afford to attend

3 College Junior

Campus Food: The best food option was the library cafe but it is no longer on the meal plan you you have to use your declining to eat there and it is expensive

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: The dorms are not bad but parking for those dorms is a nightmare. Also some of the upperclassmen dorms are large party areas

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: It's like any other small town. There are a bunch of fast food restaurants and a few chains like Applebee's and Bob Evans.

3 College Freshman

Administration: The administration isn't really the problem. The CAs and student held positions make life unbearable, though.

Scholarships: The college gives out a lot of scholarships, so it's easy to obtain one. I don't nearly anything compared to the actual cost of the college, but it still seems like too much for the experience I am receiving.

1 College Freshman

Party Scene: What party scene. You get yelled at for having music too loud or even talking about drinking.

Campus Food: Food isn't really that bad. People complain about it a lot, but I think it is clear that the dining hall puts a lot of time and effort into their dining services. Diverse options are readily available, but I know it's hard for vegetarians to find diverse options at times (which could be a hardship).

Campus Housing: Marietta College is a great school if all you want to do is go to class and do homework all the time. The social atmosphere is seriously lacking. If you're in a sorority or fraternity there are some things to do on the weekends, but otherwise count yourself out. Also, don't even think about doing anything moderately sneaky in your dorm room - you will get in trouble for having music that is too loud. Dorms are typically small and the heating and air conditioning (if you have it) is spotty at best. Also, the power goes out quite frequently. During the winter months, the roads are not salted, and the parking lots are not taken care of. The price is extremely high and still rising. Also, trying to negotiate with the housing process is impossible. I was explicitly told that "We don't want you to like your roommate, you just have to stand them." With tuition as high as it is, I would like to at the very least be comfortable in my living environment.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Hard to get used to at first. Very plain dorms. Average size

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: There are four sorrorities and four fraterniites on campus. There's usually actiivty at the frats on weekends. Each has their own house. While Greeks usually sponsor or are a part of most social events, non-Greeks actively participate. There are no hostilities between Greeks and non-Greeks.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus. There is nearly zero crime. We have a superb police staff. There are call boxes positioned throughout campus. Campus police will come pick you up if you need a ride late at night.

Campus Housing: Freshmen Housing, which I currently live in, consits of older buildings so not all of the rooms are the same size but most are okay. The lounge area on the first floor almost always has activity. It has a pool table, soda machine, tables, chairs, sofa and couch, and television. My CAs are pretty laid back. They don't seek out ways to punish us as long as we're responsible and not dumb or acting stupid.

3 College Freshman

Administration: The usual restrictions are in place, but you can get away with quite a bit in the dorms if you're quiet, don't act stuipd, and have pretty ladi back CAs.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: For the school's size we do pretty well in athletics, particuarly baseball, but it's athletes are definitely students first. Being Division III, it almost seems more of just a chance for athletes to continue to play the sport they love, without it overwhelming theri academics.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: Typical "college" parties aren't very typical. It is a small, liberal-arts party school in a small town. There are usually places (frat houses) to find activity on the weekends.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: I love Marietta! It's beautiful here. There just isn't a lot to do.

5 College Senior

Campus Housing: It's quiet on campus, comfortable for studying.

Academics: Graphic design has its pros and cons. There's a lot of individual attention thanks to small class styles, but then again diversity is a good thing for art.

4 College Senior

Academics: I really enjoy the academic side of our school. Small class sizes and focused attention from professors makes learning much easier.

3 College Senior

Greek Life: Greek life isn't overwhelming at school. The lip sync is fun to watch, and sometimes they have good fundraisers, but not overwhelming.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

The Marietta experience is unlike any other. Students are welcomed with open arms and leave with a connection to the College forever. Students generally have nothing but positive feelings toward the school and excitement about the years to come. The intimate relationship students are able to establish with their peers and professors makes a great impact on their drive to do well and succeed at Marietta. The opportunities at this school are so unique yet accessible that students are able to do things they would have never dreamed of doing in a million years, such as studying abroad in New Zealand or doing an internship at Walt Disney World.

Everything students initially expect from Marietta is met and surpassed. Marietta was the first choice for many students here, so nearly everyone is here because they want to. The academics, the town, the campus, and the faculty are highly respected, and it's a great opportunity to be apart of all of it.
