Academic Flexibility: Overall, my Lower Columbia College experience has been fairly convenient. I haven't had to test the flexibility of my classes too much (I've always been able to show up to class on time) and the teachers have made course policies fairly clear from day one (with the exception of 5 points deducted from a math test due to one instructor who listed NO CONFETTI on the policies, without explaining that confetti meant the fringes of paper when you tear it out from a notebook). Sometimes, my finals schedules are extremely close together, and the instructors take a little more time than given, resulting in me almost being late for another final, but that only happens every now and then, and the campus is fairly small.

Overall Experience: While we are a small school, several professors have worked hard to bring in specialty courses that might interest students more than the core requirements, such as Klint Hull's Science Fiction Literature and Film, which engage students on a new and interesting level. In general, class sizes are small enough that, given the appropriate class, the class itself can bond together. Julie Suek particularly provided an environment in her speech class that allowed us as a class to work together effectively and appreciate our variety.

Overall Experience: A degree from LCC on it's may not mean very much in the professional world, but it is a great launching point for many people in our community who otherwise would have no option to further their education. It does seem to possess a strong career / transfer center that helps students transfer to strong four-year universities (a lot of my friends are transferring out) as well as preparing adults to enter the local workforce if they don't want to transfer. Since LCC services a relatively large area, given its accessibility, I think it could use more interaction with Oregon schools instead of focusing almost solely on transferring students to Washington schools.

Academic Experience: At Lower Columbia College, I've never felt boxed in by my choice of major. As a drama major, it is somewhat of an occasion to meet fellow drama-majors outside my drama classes. The drama department is small but growing, and is in good hands with Betsy Richard's recent arrival as our director. However, even though I'm majoring in drama, at LCC I do have to struggle a bit to work in my drama classes and involvement in the drama department while still meeting my general requirements.

Overall Experience: I'm in my second year at Lower Columbia College. So far, the experience has been good and well worth it. I feel I have made some very important connections, both among my teachers and my classmates. Faculty and staff are friendly and engaging towards students; many of my teachers are involved in on-campus clubs and are eager to build relationships with students, in addition to professionally instructing them.

Career Services: LCC is cool because they have a regional university center. They have options with some universities in the region for dual admittance. You complete your first two years locally at LCC and then you are guaranteed a transfer to the school of dual admittance. You also get advisors from both schools to make sure that you're credits transfer to that school successfully. There are also universities that have course at the LCC campus for those who would like a 4 year degree, enjoy an in class experience, but cannot travel to attend the school on their campus.

Overall Experience: I'm from a small town, so a community college just works well for me. But the campus is constantly expanding, and there are even university courses on campus. So the variety of classes is always expanding.

Overall Experience: The career center is cool. Anyone, including non students, can come in and get help.

Academic Experience: I'm only taking one class right now, and that' general psych. So far so good.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: So far I'm only an online student, but my experience has been good. There's a lot of help from admissions/registration office through the process, and as someone who didn't pay attention on how to sign up or apply for college when I was in high school, I find that extremely relieving.
