Louisiana is a state known for its food, and in recent years, LSU has gotten better at upholding this reputation. The student union is the place to go, especially in between classes when you cannot walk back to the dining halls. The student union has everything from the Magnolia Room (all-you-can-eat) to McDonald's. The "Tiger Lair," which is on the second level of the student union, has such establishments as Papa John's, Salsarita's (Tex-Mex), and Jamba Juice, just to name a few. Basically, if you want it, you can usually find it. But if you want vegetarian options, your best bet is The 5 (Pentagon) on the Northwest side of campus.
LSU meal plans have three components. There are cafeteria meals to be used in the dining halls, Paw Points to be used at on-campus eateries, and TigerCASH, which not only works for food, but also for everything from making copies to doing laundry. The best advice is to figure out what you want to eat and select a meal plan that suits you best. If you know you hate food that comes on a slotted tray, steer clear of plans with lots of dining points. The best bet is to get Paw Points or TigerCASH that can be used everywhere.
