Local Area: Downtown Lynchburg is pretty cool. It's got a lot of nice restaurants and stores along Main Street. Closer to campus, there are a lot of restaurants (including at least one all-you-can-eat buffet), plenty of stores, a Regal Cinemas multiplex, and a smaller theater where tickets are just $2. Wards Road runs right by campus, and there are two tunnels under the railroad tracks (one for pedestrians, one for cars) so that nobody has to cross the tracks--or wait for trains to get off of them. Wards has a lot of the aforementioned restaurants and shops along it, as well as a Wal-Mart and a Sam's Club directly across from campus. There is also a pedestrian bridge over Wards directly across a small parking lot from the pedestrian tunnel, so there's no waiting for stoplights if you're on foot. As far as transportation goes, LU has multiple Zipcars on campus, and the Amtrak station is only about 10 or 15 minutes away.

Health & Safety: I feel safe walking across campus at all hours of the day. Perhaps that's because I almost never leave my dorm without a knife (out of habit, not necessity), but still. Everyone on our police force must go through actual police training to be hired, and our police officers are always armed. I also take comfort in the fact that once I turn 21 and get my Concealed Carry Permit, I can carry a gun everywhere I go (except in the dorms, of course, due to Virginia law). That might upset some readers and potential students, but for me, it's nice to know that I'll be able to properly defend myself and those around me in the unlikely event of a school shooting.

Scholarships: The only problem that I had was late last semester when I saw that, unlike in the previous semesters, I would not be receiving any financial aid. I fretted for a couple of days before I had a chance to talk face-to-face with a financial aid assistant, who resolved my problem in less than 5 minutes. Turned out to be human error on their end, but everything's great now.

Overall Experience: The professors are very encouraging and helpful. When you send an email to ask any question, they are quick to respond. The professors also encourage students on a weekly basis to do their best and to keep going. The courses are well prepared and full of useful content. I love the fact I can earn my degree completely online at a Christian school. The classes help me make a connection between my faith and applying it in the business world.

Administration: I am an online student. All classes and communication is online and I have never been to the campus.
