4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: People on campus are pretty concerned with their appearance. Not in a bad or vain way, but most people have their own aesthetic and dress nicely. If you're into clothes, walking around campus is pretty fun and interesting. There's also an abundance of man-buns and beards, if you're into that. From what I hear, there is a hookup culture, but there's not that many people or parties here, so I don't really know where one would meet a casual romantic partner. You're pretty much bound to run into a hookup later on campus.

Guys & Girls: Purely hookup culture with rumors that spread like wildfire. Everyone knows everyone so you're always with an ex's friend.

Putting aside Lewis & Clark’s reputation for being a weed-smoking, hippie school, the people at LC aren’t necessarily lacking in the looks department. It is true, though, that there’s a pretty uneven ratio of attractive girls to guys, so some girls decide to settle for someone they may not have even considered should they have attended another school. That’s not to say that all of the guys at LC are bad looking; the pickings are just a bit slimmer. It all depends on what you’re looking for. LC is definitely not lacking in the average hippie/hipster, nor people with brains. Almost every student is smart and pretty knowledgeable in areas that truly appeal to him or her, which keeps things interesting and never lacking in good conversation.

Style varies from student to student. The general look of the student body probably wouldn’t appeal to the average jock, but the average jock is the least common stereotype at LC. Every non-athletic student easily ignores jocks at LC, and you don’t often find the athletic students mingling with students outside of a sports team. That being said, though, neither group has any problem with that split. Guys range from the hipsters in tight jeans below their rear ends to hippies with pretty free-flowing clothing to the occasional jock wearing school attire. Girls range from those who dress comfy and casual to vintage-wearing hipsters to the girls with a lot of money, obviously advertised by their shoes and bags. If you’re into the casual, weed-smoking hipster that can still have pretty interesting discussions, LC may be the place for you, since that’s definitely the dominating vibe at the school.

Social Scene
The students at Lewis & Clark are pretty accepting, and oftentimes, it is not too hard to strike up a conversation with the people around you. However, most people won't break out of their social circle once it's formed.
Hookups or Relationships?
You definitely have your fair share of both, since this is college. There usually isn't much middle ground between hooking up and a long-term relationship at Lewis & Clark. Casual dating is just less common. Despite the size of the school, there is a pretty good mix of people, though it is predominantly hipsters and hippies. Relationships do happen, but due to the size, there may not seem to be as many people to choose from. On the plus side, Portland is a great city with some pretty awesome people to meet.
Dress Code
The dress code at Lewis & Clark ranges from comfy casual to a pseudo-fancy casual. Think "I spent a lot of money on this to look like I didn't." You definitely get the hipster vibe-tight bands and lots of thin woven bracelets and rings. The only thing that's really of primary importance is the comfort; this is a college, after all, and most people are more interested in being comfortable and being quick more than anything else. On any given day, you'll come across a Birkentstock-wearing hippie or a student who simply chooses not to wear shoes in the rain-at all. Dreads are the popular hair choice for a lot of students, though not everyone. While not everyone may dress like the typical hipster or hippie, the comfort and free-flowing style of the look definitely begins to influence most of the student body.
