Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing in Cleveland is very affordable and no more than a 5-20 minute drive from campus. I think this is a great option once you finish your sophomore year

Off-Campus Dining: There are many options that are cheap and provide student discounts and this is wonderful! zaxby's is a big favorite

College Freshman

Party Scene: There are no parties on campus unless it is put on by the university/greek clubs and i believe that this is a wonderful and helps keep the campus safe

Administration: I believe that the rules that Lee has set are very great. I love the aspect of not having boys/girls in the opposite sexes dorm room and that there are no drugs/alcohol allowed on the campus. the rules are enforced very well

Scholarships: Lee will help you find and receive the money you need

Campus Housing: Living on campus is wonderful! Lee offers so many different events in which you are able to connect with others in your dorm and even in other dorms. Dorm wars is the best part of living on campus

Party Scene: I am not a party person, but I know that if you truly want to party it is possible. Especially within the Greek community.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: The scholarship process was fine but it was not well publicized.

Campus Food: Being an off campus student with no meal plan I do not eat on campus often, but when I do the service is wonderful and the food is good.

Campus Housing: I am an off campus student.

Greek Life: I don't really want to rate Greek life, just because I'm not a part of it. However, I will explain it from my viewpoint.

When I first heard about Lee, I knew there were no sororities --- however no one told me that no sororities doesn't mean no Greek life. There is actually now one national Christian sorority on campus, but the rest are simply "Greek clubs" with no national affiliation. Also at Lee, you are only allowed to rush one Greek club/sorority at a time, and you may not do so until at least your second semester of your freshman year. A lot of non-Greeks aren't really interested in Greek life, but since there are no parties or Greek houses, it really doesn't matter all that much.

Off-Campus Housing: It is very difficult to get approved to live off campus. Only upperclassmen ever really are (except for special circumstances). I personally think it's pretty lame that they can tell anyone besides freshmen where they can and cannot live. Anyways, there are a lot of options for living off campus and they're usually cheaper than living in an on campus apartment or dorm.

Off-Campus Dining: I do not like chain restaurants, and that is pretty much all Cleveland has to offer. Chattanooga is close and has a lot more options, but if you don't have a car or money, there's no hope.

Administration: There are a lot of rules that are strictly enforced ... but it's nothing that you wouldn't know about ahead of time. When coming to Lee you sign a covenent that precludes you from drinking, doing drugs, or anything otherwise "immoral". And yes, the no drinking rule applies to when you are on breaks, studying abroad, and off-campus. Even if you're 21. No one is ever allowed in the dorm room belonging to someone of the opposite sex. If you're not down for those rules, then don't come here. They tell you about all of them in advance.

Sometimes the rules can be annoying, but there's no use complaining about them :)

College Freshman

Party Scene: There aren't that many parties (except for school wide mixers). If you're looking for parties, you could probably find them. But if you're not, you won't have any clue they exist.

Campus Food: I am extremely passionate in my distaste for the Lee University meal plan system. Want to eat healthy without spending any of your own money?? Too bad. Let me explain :

The Caf:

The cafeteria first of all has some pretty difficult hours. Every day they always serve hamburgers and mediocre pizza (unhealthy). There is a VERY limited salad bar with no options for protein. There is also a sandwich station which can be a good last resort. They also have an "international" station (usually burritos or some weird salad) which is usually a good option, but sometimes is awful, and a "home style" station that typically has some sort of chicken and MAYBE a vegetable. The rice and pasta (when available) is always overcooked and mushy. The vegetables are usually also overcooked and mushy, with little flavoring. There is rarely fresh fruit, except for a few green apples they will put out. You cannot eat healthy in the dining hall, but no need to worry -- there is always soft serve ice cream (sarcasm..).

Everywhere else :

The other restaurants on campus are expensive. I love Einstein's and you can usually get some relatively healthy options there, but our meal plans only cover around $4 of the meals you can buy there. That means you're using up your limited flex to buy healthier options (this concept applies at Subway as well).

It's a struggle to eat anything GOOD or HEALTHY on campus.

Campus Housing: On Campus Housing is generally very nice. My dorm is suite style, which means there is considerably less community than in the community style dorms. You may have to sacrafice a personal bathroom for better community. If I could do the process over again I probably would choose a community style dorm, it would have helped me make friends.

Administration: They can be strict sometimes.

Scholarships: The financial aid is really helpful

Off-Campus Housing: I've heard its worth it but i live at home with my parents

Lee University prides itself in the involvement it has with students. Teachers and students can talk to each other and get personal attention in the classroom and during office hours. Lee is not such a big school that you cannot get personal interaction during the day. The faculty is very interested in the individual students and making sure the student is getting the most out of his or her learning. Lee also assigns an individual faculty adviser to each student that helps guide the student through academic choices and picking classes. Moreover, if a student is going through a rough time and feels like he or she needs help, there are a variety of school mental health counselors with whom the students can meet for free by appointment.

The school seeks to foster young adults who are not only capable in the classroom, but are well-rounded people. In each class, before the lesson begins, the teachers sometimes give a small devotional and open up the room for prayer requests. This is a good way for students to be able to open up in class and receive prayer for their needs. Since Lee is a private Christian school, it is allowed to do so, and many students enjoy this aspect of class. Those who hold religious beliefs that are different from those of the school are treated with equal respect in the classroom and generally do not mind the prayer since they know the school is Christian-based when they apply.
