It is rarely sunny at La Roche. OK, so the sun shines maybe about 25 full days out of the entire school year. The rest of the time there may be a little bit of sun in the morning, but, somewhere along the way, it usually ends up getting windy and rainy. In the winter, it snows quite a bit and gets incredibly windy and cold. In the spring and fall, it rains more than any other type of weather. Thunderstorms are not uncommon. There is a saying in Pittsburgh that there are only two seasons here: construction and mud.
Bring a variety of clothing to La Roche—sweatshirts, sweaters, pants, long-sleeved shirts, T-shirts, shorts, tank tops, and capris. Also, don't forget to bring plenty of rain gear as well because rain is the most common type of weather on the College campus. Luckily, students don't have to walk that far to classes or their cars. However, on those nice, sunny days, lots of students study outside, throw a Frisbee, or work on their tans. Because of the hilly campus, in the winter there is never a lack of a good sledriding hill. Expect to see a bunch of snowmen outside your dorm window, too.
