For being a 2 year community college Kirkwood is amazing! I attend the Iowa City campus, and have loved every moment of it. There can be some bumps in the road, but the faculty are all very friendly and personable. You have plenty of people you can ask for help! There are free tutoring services and we now have transfer agreements with not only The University of Iowa, but a newly established agreement with Mt. Mercy, and optimally many more to come in the future! I believe it is around 1/3 of the price of a class at the University and to be completely honest it will be a much better setting for those coming right from high school or have never left home before. The classes are smaller, and you have more of an opportunity to get to know your professors or ask them for help if you need to. We also have professors at Kirkwood that also teach at the University of Iowa, so they are definitely not lacking in employees with adequate credentials. I would definitely recommend this school.

Tuition at Kirkwood is extremely low, but the value of the education is incredible! I get more than what I pay for. The financial aid office is wonderful! They help you with your FAFSA if you need it; they will even help you fix it if you messed it up! They are patient and understanding about financial situations. I had an issue once which delayed my payment, but they didn't harass me or make me feel as if I wasn't going to pay. They were very understanding and emotionally supportive. The Veteran's Affairs representative is also extremely helpful. Unfortunately, like with most schools, you will still need to know your own way around the VA forms and requirements. However, she is very competent and helpful.

Kirkwood Community College offers great help to its post-grad students! Just because you stop attending doesn't mean they stop caring! They have a fantastic 2 Plus 2 Program with the University of Iowa for those who wish to transfer. They also have an amazing set of programs that prepare you straightaway for the work force! You receive the preparation you need; not just educationally, but emotionally as well! If for some reason you struggle finding a job after you complete their programs, they will aid you in your search!
