Campus Food: Most people at Kansas Wesleyan would say that our cafeteria sucks. It has gotten better since my freshman year when they failed the health inspection. Not many people wore sanitary gloves, some didn't know what they were doing, and there was mold in the ice machine. Compared to that, they've made a few leaps of improvement. There's more variety, a few healthier options (such as chicken wraps and low-fat Chinese stir fry), and more options with the meal plan.

Before this last school year, there was only one meal plan: 22 meals/week in the cafeteria with $100 credit in the Den. This year, the school added some options. 15 meals/week in the cafeteria and $225 in the Den, or 10 meals/week in the cafeteria with roughly $400 in the Den. A majority of the students don't have time to sit and eat in the cafeteria and therefore don't use up their meal plan. This has appeased their demands, and now students can grab 'n go from the Den without worrying about using up their credit.

Students on campus would say that the Den is the best place on campus, and I agree. The Den has a variety of healthier food options to choose from and then some. It provides a variety of Pepsi products and energy drinks as well as water and coffee. There is also milk, fruit juices, fruit, a variety of sandwiches, candy bars, and ice cream. The Den also has cooked food which includes burritos, paninis, flat-bread options, and pizza. The Den also serves breakfast and is open from from 7:30 in the morning to 7:30 at night. This provides students with early morning classes a grab 'n go breakfast if they're running late as well as lunch and dinner. Compared to the cafeteria, it has many healthier options and better food. There is also a restaurant like area outside of the Den for students to sit and socialize. Overall, the students on campus prefer the Den and give it high ratings.

Campus Housing: The housing at Kansas Wesleyan is pretty great. There are three dormitories: Pfeiffer, Wilson, and Wesley. I've stayed in Wilson and Pfeiffer, and out of the two I definitely prefer Pfeiffer. It's the all-girls dorm on campus, and the only dormitory to provide individual bathrooms. There's not a lot of social activity in Pfeiffer, which is all right with me. The rooms in Pfeiffer are of decent quality, with some flaws. They don't seem to be cleaned regularly over the summer, and every once in a while there's mold. However, during the school year the maintenance staff provides quality upkeep of the dormitories and requests for fixing things are promptly granted.

The housing process is of top notch quality, too. Forms for housing are distributed in mid-April every year, and are easy to fill out. You select which dorm you prefer, and if you want a certain person as your roommate you list their name. However, roommate preferences must be mutual between two people. Otherwise, you list qualities about yourself such as cleanliness, if you are an early bird or a night owl, and how loud you are. It's a simple process. To get into the all-girls' or all-boys' dorm (Pfeiffer and Wesley) you have to be above freshmen status and promptly return your housing form. The dorms are pretty filled up during the school year, as we have a large population of on-campus students.
