Campus Food

3 College Junior

Campus Food: Baker food is getting better (smoothie line and stir-fry line are good), but it is expensive for the quality of food if you don't eat a lot. So if you are a senior, living off-campus might be the best option.

Campus Food: Once you've eaten here for 5 years, it's just gross

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: The dining options are good for the small school. Quality could use some work

2 College Sophomore

Campus Food: The quality of food on campus is poor, which leads to unhealthy eating.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: The food is decent but the options get old really quickly and at the end of the semester everything tastes stale.

Most students would probably agree that if the food in Baker were as pleasant as the people who serve it, they'd all be better off. However, most also recognize that a cafeteria is a cafeteria, and while it gets old pretty quickly, there's enough variety and sheer quantity of food to satisfy anyone's appetite when they actually find something they like. Muddy Run is considered the main escape route for anyone who's just not up to what Baker has on the menu for the day.

One bonus is Baker's vegan line. The dining hall is also centrally located in Ellis Hall, and Muddy Run is right upstairs. However, the main cafeteria is only open for certain mealtime hours, with Muddy picking up the slack for students who need to eat on a different schedule or grab something on the run. And in general, the upper the classman, the smaller the meal plan—they're all sick of it. One place that everyone stops at is Jitters, the campus coffee shop. Different meal plans come with declining credit balances (DCB) that students can spend on snacks and drinks in Muddy or Jitters. DCB carries over from fall to spring semester, but not to the following year. If you're trying to hang on to your DCB dollars, Jitters is going to be your no. 1 nemesis.
