Health & Safety

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I think campus is safe but not completely safe. I don't think you can trust everyone. But if I was in need of help or needed a friend to walk me across campus late at night I know they wouldn't hesitate to walk me to my car.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: John Carroll is very safe. Things that happen are off campus when people make poor decisions. I have no problem walking around on campus at night alone. It's totally safe.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: John Carroll University takes sexual assault very seriously.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: There could be more accessible faculty members who are passionate about this topic and be available 24/7 for the victims of rape or sexual assault.

John Carroll is a very safe campus located in an equally safe neighborhood. Campus Safety Services (CSS) is good at responding to calls and generally is always there for you. For the most part, CSS is willing to help students out with anything, keeping alert of any suspicious activity. CSS is not too strict (except about parking), but strict enough. Theft, excessive drinking, drugs, and unlit pathways are the biggest safety concerns of students. Campus Safety Services tries its best to keep the students feeling safe, while Residence Life works on getting more lighting around campus. The majority of students feels safe walking across campus by themselves.

Most students agree that the Health Center, located right on campus, is convenient. The people that work in the Health Center are very nice and helpful. They will give you a lot of medicine to help you get over a cold or cough, and they will also provide you with ways to get over your sickness quickly. In addition, massage therapy is offered, and often health expos take place in the student center a few times a year.
