4 College Sophomore

Administration: I feel safe at my campus and I love the people.

4 College Student

Administration: honestly only idiots get caught drinking in the dorm i know kids who play beer pong in the dorms and dont get caught or they drink with ras its not that bad just make sure a good ra is on duty

4 College Freshman

Administration: I think the policies and the level of strictness here are good. If you follow them and do what you are supposed to do, there are no problems. If you want to have fun and do things that go against the university's rules, going off campus is the best option because the policies here are strict and enforced.

3 College Junior

Administration: The shuttle can take you to most places, but waiting for it is hit or miss. It seems as though they're too busy playing on their phones waiting for students at each location that they forget to go back to where they need to go when no one is there. Oh well. Get a car and you're fine.

5 College Freshman

Administration: I find policies very fair.

Campus strictness is enforced, but, for the most part, it is not overly burdensome. RAs are usually pretty lenient and give students warnings before writing them up. Also, the visitation policy is hardly ever followed unless a student complains about a disturbance. Basic rules: don't be dumb, don't be loud, and don't draw attention to yourself. There is adequate strictness, but most RAs only enforce rules when necessary.

The most restrictive part of campus has to do with Campus Safety Services (CSS). Although John Carroll is a pretty safe campus and CSS does its job, many students feel as if CSS only provides the illusion of safety. CSS is oddly strictest about parking and handing out parking tickets rather than theft and drinking. But don't think you can get away with any of that, either. At such a small school, things get around very easily and spread quickly. There is a lot of underage drinking that takes place on campus, and in return, there is often vandalism such as window breaking and bathroom stalls being ripped apart. Also, lighting on campus is slowly being added to make the atmosphere safer for students walking across campus at night. John Carroll has one or two blue-lights, but they are located far at the edge of campus. JCU feels that blue-lights would be misused and would be a waste of money, so instead students are encouraged to walk with a friend and call CSS with any problems.
