Campus Food: I do not get sick of the food here at all. Since I live on east campus, I usually go to Festival. I eat healthier there than when I go to e-hall. I get their salads daily and never get sick of them. E-hall is also good, especially for Sunday brunch. I'm a person who likes routine, so I don't always need new food, but they definitely have it available for people who want it. There is a variety of options, and they're always different. You definitely get your money's worth because you can either go to e-hall or d-hall and eat as much as you want, or go somewhere like Festival to get portion control and get a soup and salad or a burger and fries.

Campus Food: Sometimes gets old because it is the same thing at dining halls

Campus Food: So many options and can fine healthy ones too!

Campus Food: Our food would have to be one of the best qualities about JMU.

Campus Food: In my opinion, as a healthier student, I prefer East Campus dining facilities as the food is a bit healthier and there are more options that are of better quality. I know many individuals who like D-hall because it is very good tasting but to me its just not as healthy and the options are a bit more limited.

Food is scarcely talked about in negative terms from the student body. Students enjoy a wealth of different options in their dining halls and eateries. Hungry? The two all-you-can-eat dining halls give you the most bang for your buck. Freshmen, beware! The desserts and array of meals may leave you lamenting that fourth cookie you just had to reach for.

The dining halls have recently made strides in healthy eating, specifically labeling items with the ingredients and nutritional information. E-hall and D-hall also include vegan and vegetarian options that even leave meat-eaters drooling. Students watching their figures should also be wary of Festival and Dukes. It is very easy to overeat in these places, precisely the reason to split the food between two meals using one of JMU’s take-out boxes. If you’re not as hungry, Starbucks, Einstein’s, and Java City offer that little pick-me-up that aides in students slogging over their school work.

Did You Know?
  • To use up extra punches on their meal plans, students often double punch, or use both lunch and dinner punches at the same time. Just be aware that you can only double punch Monday through Thursday after 11 a.m. So much for late-night weekend munchies!
  • Wondering what punches are? While they have nothing to do with fighting, they have a lot to do with eating. Punches are an integral part of every JMU meal plan, big or small. Meal punches are exchanged at many dining locations for entry, and others for pre-ordained meal combinations. Students generally can only use one or two meal punches per meal period. You can't use a punch at Lakeside Express, Java City, Mr. Chips, or Market One at lunch.
