Overall Experience: I love going to Ivy Tech because of the people!

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I originally came in to receive a teaching degree. After meeting with a career counselor, she suggested I check out the Visual Communication department before I made a final decision. I'm so glad I did! That department is a hidden gem in our community. I changed my path because of it. I have had one course in a classroom and just finished one on-line. Both great experiences and fit my schedule. I would definitely choose this academic course, at Ivy Tech in Columbus, if I had to do it all over because of the convenience, the variety of classes and times, and because of their outstanding Vis Comm department.

Student Body: I was able to get to know many people from multiple different programs. Each person was uniquely different. Since it was a commute school there was a lot of diversity, and the students are very accepting.

Tuition & Financial Aid: The program I was in provided a great financial benefit. Financial aid is all I have, and it was able to cover my fees.

Academic Experience: I was in a fast paced program. This was the first year at my school to have this program. Professors were very willing to help out with time management, curriculum, and workload. The only negative aspect is that because it was the first year running this program, it was difficult for them to provide job opportunities and ideas after graduation.

Academic Experience: The professors are great. They do their best to help each student, and get to know each one on a more personal level then teacher-student. The curriculum never seemed to be a problem, and if it was the professor was quick to help. There was always tutoring available. Class registration was quick and easy.

Online Courses: All of my classes are online, so this is the perfect question for me! Students have to be much more disciplined to take online classes than they have to be to attend face-to-face classes. There is no set time for class to meet, so you have to make your own schedule and stick with it as much as possible. I love the convenience of online classes, as the school I attend is physically located about 45 minutes to an hour away from my home. Not only that, but I can easily fit my schooling in around my work schedule. Without this flexibility, I would not be able to pursue my education at this time.

Campus Resources: The campus has recently been going through some renovations, and the areas with completed renovations are much more attractive and current than they had been previously. However, I don't visit campus often as all of my classes are online.

Academic Flexibility: It was sort of difficult to transfer credits. I sought help in the advising department so my issue was cleared up before it became too large of a headache.

Academic Experience: I'm still in my prerequisite classes so I haven't actually started classes in my specific major yet.
