4 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: The library is one of my favorite spots to study at. There are three floors and the higher you go, the quieter the spots are.

2 College Sophomore

Athletics: Sports are definitely not a large part of campus life. The only sporting events attending are the larger ones, like that of homecoming and the Cortaca Jug.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: For Ithaca College's Physical Therapy program, you must apply early decision because the program fills up quickly. Once enrolled, student must maintain a C- or higher in every class and preferably a 3.0 CGPA.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Only being a rising sophomore, I personally have not had an internship just yet but I do plan on applying for internships soon. My hometown has many private physical therapy office in which I can receive information and possibly hold an internship at.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The class sizes are large enough for interesting group discussion and small enough for one-on-one with the professors and other students when needed.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Ithaca College's Office of Career Services is always informing it's students of new opportunities through the school whether the student is a freshman or graduating, interships and help with careers are always available.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: Visitation in the dormitories is more laid back than other school taking into account that Ithaca College is much smaller than other school and does not circulate many visitors at once.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: Since Ithaca College is a private college, the classes are much smaller than those of a university's. With the classes being more condensed, the professors are able to reach out to students individually for help, and vice versa.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: Ithaca College's Physical Therapy is one of the best in the state. With only six years until completion, Ithaca makes the work load and curriculum easier than thought. Getting accepted into the program is prestigious yet worth the hard work upon graduation when internships are a guarantee.

4 College Junior

Diversity: Our campus is full of so many different races, sexualities, and personalities. Everyone seems to be accepting of this and very respectful towards one another.

3 College Junior

Administration: I think that the campus can be strict at times depending on certain officers. A majority are fair as long as you are respectful however there have been a few that are extremely strict.

5 College Junior

Majors: I think the program is very strong and staffed extremely well. I enjoy all the teachers and their teaching methods. I also like how close knit the students are. I always have peers I can study with or get notes from if I need.

College Junior

Majors: I have not had an internship. I know for my senior year however I will be doing a lot of clinical work.

Academics: There are so many different programs and classes to choose from at Ithaca. Some of my friends had difficulty with the registration process but for me it always went smoothly. The workload can be difficult but the teachers promote good study habits and as long as you stay on top of your work and to the best of your ability it is a very fair amount of work.

4 College Junior

Academics: I love the Speech Pathology program. The teachers are all so passionate and work hard to know each student personally. Many of them use powerpoints for their notes and make note taking extremely easy.

Campus Food: I am a very healthy eater and was also vegetarian for a few years. I never had a problem finding something to eat in our dining halls. They also had a kosher section with excellent food that I really enjoyed.

Scholarships: I am very grateful for all the financial aid I received. It was somewhat of a difficult process however. Also, Ithaca is a very pricey school and having the school provide more aid would be extremely beneficial.

Local Area: The commons is one of the best college towns in the United States. It is beautiful and provides students and locals with so many shops, restaurants, and even a few bars for night life. Additionally, the state parks and gorges are beautiful and always a nice place to relax with friends or my family when they come to visit.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Overall, I really like the professors and the classes I've taken. The speech pathology program is pretty small and competitive. However, I like the small size because the teachers get to know you more personally and are always willing to provide you with individual attention and extra help.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: The alumni program at Ithaca is very strong. They provide many career and internship fairs to help students get more involved and put their foot in the door. For my senior year my program will be providing a lot of clinical work.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: There is a very diverse group of students at Ithaca College. There are many musical and artistic guys and girls but then there are also many into athletics. A lot of people are into partying but you are not the odd one out if you do not like to drink, there is always something else to do.

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus, we have blue lights spread out through the campus that will alert public safety if we are not feeling safe and they are there in under a minute. The public safety sticks to the rules but are not overbearing and very fair.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: Great housing, the process of housing selection is very difficult

1 College Junior

Guys & Girls: It's like if Glee and Big Bang Theory had a baby.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

When students are asked to evaluate their overall experience at IC, they often look at the lessons they learned both inside and outside of the classroom. Students who go beyond the social aspect of college and get involved end up both gaining the most experience and having the most fun. Many students love IC because of its size. Sometimes, it’s hard to walk anywhere on campus without bumping into someone you know. With such dreadfully cold winters, the academic programs and well-organized student groups are the main reasons students come back every year. Also, the great size allows students to connect with other students in their majors and their professors/advisers, as well.

Like many things in life, students’ experiences with IC are simply what they make of them. If you sit in your dorm room for four years, you will be miserable. If you experience the life Ithaca has to offer and go outside of your comfort zone, you most likely won’t regret your decision to attend IC. The school’s high retention rate proves this. IC offers a great mix of academics and everything else college life should offer—friends, fun, professional opportunities, active campus life, and a time to learn and grow.
