Off-Campus Dining: The off-campus restaurant scene is very diverse and readily made available to students with a wide range of options, though prices can vary there are few student only discounts.

Athletics: There is one facility for non-athletes to work out, the facility is nice but somewhat small and machines can be crowded.

Technology: Wireless is very available, can be slow sometimes but thats because of how many students are on at one time. There are only two computer labs on campus, could be increased but the need is not really there as most students have their own computers that they use regularly. Printing and copying is free on campus.

Diversity: There is not much diversity on campus, though what little diversity there is, can be obviously observed.

Scholarships: I was provided the financial aid I required form my school with relatively little to no headache or hoops to jump through.

Local Area: Parking downtown can be a nightmare, but everything is daily close together and easy to get to including stores for your needs and convenience, public transportation is great and the overall atmosphere is enjoyable. Living downtown off-campus can get outrageously expensive, but the cost of room and board on-campus is more so.

Overall Experience: I love my school despite the frustrations I encounter, I would choose Ithaca every time.

Campus Housing: Some dorms are better than others, if you know which ones those include, housing is a much easier process. The lottery process, however, can be somewhat difficult and frustrating.

Parking: Parking is reasonably priced for upperclassman (freshman have outrage prices) but spots can be very hard to find and are usually inconveniently far from class or dorms.

Campus Quality: Student life is very comfortable.

Drug Safety: Some students smoke, but there is very little pressure to partake.

Off-Campus Dining: Due to its diverse population and collegetown atmosphere, Ithaca College is surrounded by many different restaurants. Whether it be in the Commons or in Collegetown, there are many affordable restaurants catered to students. There are also nicer places to eat within the area for fancier dinners as well. There are enough restaurants to keep one busy for their four years of schooling.

Technology: The Ithaca College computer labs are typically pretty well managed. There are quite a number around campus, the library containing many computers as well. There is one that is open 24/7 and students often spend much of their time there during exams. Yet, it can become a little difficult when wanting to print. Some of the printers tend to be slow while others are simply not enough in between classes.

Off-Campus Dining: Ithaca boasts more restaurants per capita than NYC. There are plenty of options around town, from fast-food/chains to local, organic sources. Ithaca has plenty of healthy eats.

We also have a Wegmans, Tops, and Walmart, and a farmer's market... the food prices are a little hefty in Ithaca but you can certainly coupon and work your way to a budget friendly grocery bill.

Diversity: Ithaca College has recently made major attempts to increase diversity.

Academics: I'm in the Park School Of Communications, and I couldn't be happier. We have great resources, study abroad/domestic programs, and plenty of great on-campus organizations and positions. The deans are especially responsive, and professors become allies. You get hands-on experience from Day 1.

Administration: The campus is pretty strict about on-campus drinking. Circles parties get busted by midnight, and in the dorms, you're likely to be written up for drinking. The campus is not a dry campus, so students of age are welcome to drink.

Students smoke weed a lot on campus-- there are certain areas in the woods designated for pot. This is typically easier for students to hide, but can mean big trouble if the students are caught.

The campus is also very stern about parking. Parking tickets pile up quickly. You must be sure to have the pass properly posted in your window, and be careful to park in specifically marked parking lots.

Diversity: It's so poor. They the rate of international and minority students is very very low. Why? I really don't know.

Health & Safety: Great security. There are blue lights everywhere, just in case.

Off-Campus Housing: It is a bit of a hassle to be honest. You have to have 5+ semesters to be able to simply move off. If not, you are to apply to live off campus. It's a bit annoying.

Guys & Girls: There's not much diversity... you'll find either athletes or theater/drama majors.

Party Scene: House parties always get blown up and only a couple bars.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

When students are asked to evaluate their overall experience at IC, they often look at the lessons they learned both inside and outside of the classroom. Students who go beyond the social aspect of college and get involved end up both gaining the most experience and having the most fun. Many students love IC because of its size. Sometimes, it’s hard to walk anywhere on campus without bumping into someone you know. With such dreadfully cold winters, the academic programs and well-organized student groups are the main reasons students come back every year. Also, the great size allows students to connect with other students in their majors and their professors/advisers, as well.

Like many things in life, students’ experiences with IC are simply what they make of them. If you sit in your dorm room for four years, you will be miserable. If you experience the life Ithaca has to offer and go outside of your comfort zone, you most likely won’t regret your decision to attend IC. The school’s high retention rate proves this. IC offers a great mix of academics and everything else college life should offer—friends, fun, professional opportunities, active campus life, and a time to learn and grow.
