Party Scene: I don't normally go to parties. When I have the opportunity to attend they are usually those types of parties where people engage in marijuana. I'm not used to those types of parties, but I wish there was more of a variety and stonger poloicies of what to expect from better parties.

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of apartments, townhouses and houses that are available to older students who want to live off campus

4 College Student

Party Scene: There is a lot to do, lots of diverse people, and tons of parties

5 College Student

Off-Campus Dining: There are tons of diverse options

2 College Student

Scholarships: I feel like there should be more available

3 College Student

Campus Food: It's expensive and not healthy

Campus Housing: Everyone is nice, and there is lots to do.

Campus Food: Many people complain about the food, but I think that overall the food is really good considering how many people are being cooked for. I like to eat at Terrace Dining Hall the most because it has the largest variety of food to eat, especially during dinner.

Campus Housing: I'm able to get to my classes on time and they aren't that far from the dorm I live in either. There are three dining halls that have a variety of food for me to eat and I can eat something different each day. I also love that I'm able to see all my friends as often as I want since we all live on campus together. The campus atmosphere is also very inviting and I definitely feel as though I picked the right college.

Health & Safety: I have never not felt safe on ithaca college's campus!

Greek Life: Recently, Greek life has taken off at Ithaca College. 3 social fraternities, 1 social service sorority, and 1 social sorority have been started. Greek Life here is different than on other campuses because it is not completely affiliated with Ithaca College, but rather the town of Ithaca. If greek isn't your thing, you most likely won't even be exposed. But if you like greek life and want to get involved, it is very easy.

Athletics: The fitness center is state of the art equipment and the Athletics and Events center is brand new and gorgeous!

Party Scene: As a freshman, I was nervous reading on this site that there is nothing to do. There is a million things to do here! Going to the bars is so fun, permitting you have an ID. House parties are always happening and everyone on campus always knows where they are happening. Frats are becoming a little more prevalent here, and a sorority is starting as well. There is something to do for everyone here!

Administration: Campus police are very helpful and also pretty lenient. Lots of times they will let you off with a warning, but they will show up a little more frequently on the floor. Not too bad!

5 College Freshman

Scholarships: Be persistent in your quest for aid! they will help!

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: As a freshman coming in, I was pretty nervous about campus food. The options are really good and as with anything, of course you get sick of it sometimes. Ordering in once or twice a month is a great option as well!

Campus Housing: Ithaca College has great housing options if you want to live on campus. As a freshman, living in towers was an absolutely amazing choice and upper quads is great too. Even the worst of the bunch, lower quads, is in very good condition.

Off-Campus Dining: It's great! I like the many Thai restaurants

3 College Junior

Campus Food: I think the Grab and Go option needs to be re evaluated for its nutritional content. More locations around campus is ok, but I would rather have some of the healthy options that were offered in the Campus Center location, (Bean salads, vegetables, 2 pieces of fruit, etc. These options are no longer available and in their place is a jumbo cookie and a bag of chips. NOT healthy)

Off-Campus Dining: Ithaca has more restaurants per capita than NYC, so there are always affordable options.

Administration: Our administration does not seem to care about the student body. Whenever students bring up a topic that would aid the campus population, they deny any form of direct communication. Our mental health facility was just denied funding, for example, and when the student body petitioned the administration, they responded through an article in the school newspaper as opposed to talking directly with the students about the problem. This has been the case on a variety of issues.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: It's okay. I don't go out too often, and parties aren't widely advertised.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Our tuition is rising, but the number and value of scholarships is not. This causes a disconnect and it's harder and harder to pay tuition.

Campus Food: There need to be more vegetarian options, especially during religious seasons where people cannot eat meat.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

When students are asked to evaluate their overall experience at IC, they often look at the lessons they learned both inside and outside of the classroom. Students who go beyond the social aspect of college and get involved end up both gaining the most experience and having the most fun. Many students love IC because of its size. Sometimes, it’s hard to walk anywhere on campus without bumping into someone you know. With such dreadfully cold winters, the academic programs and well-organized student groups are the main reasons students come back every year. Also, the great size allows students to connect with other students in their majors and their professors/advisers, as well.

Like many things in life, students’ experiences with IC are simply what they make of them. If you sit in your dorm room for four years, you will be miserable. If you experience the life Ithaca has to offer and go outside of your comfort zone, you most likely won’t regret your decision to attend IC. The school’s high retention rate proves this. IC offers a great mix of academics and everything else college life should offer—friends, fun, professional opportunities, active campus life, and a time to learn and grow.
