Athletics: People are incredibly supportive for the football team, but lackluster when it comes to other supports. The only game that I've attended where there was mediocre school spirit was the annual Cortaca football game, and even then people were barely cheering. Ithaca could do better with school spirit

Overall Experience: I love the school, the professors are really great and they always have office hours, so if you don't understand the material in class. If you go to their office hours you learn so much

Party Scene: Bars are great. Nightlife is great. Moonies is lit

Academics: One of the best in the nation for communciations

Diversity: They have been trying to include more diversity.

Drug Safety: If you aren't feeling well or someone else isn't feeling well, you can call campus safety and they will not write your name up at all. They really do value student saftey

Overall Experience: I'm in Park School of Communications as a Cinema and photography major and the classes are amazing. It is a very beautiful campus with an amazing college town. Cornell is also literally across the hill. The weather in the winter is blah. It is cold, but tolerable. There are great facilities around and when it is warm out, everyone is outside taking advantage of the rays. Tons of off-campus activities around Ithaca including the commons, gorges, hikes, waterfalls, and tons of festivals that take place in the commons and on the hills. The people are nice, and there is a niche for everyone.

Overall Experience: A Communications degree can land you a job. It is a Nationally renowned program with amazing professors, guest speakers such as David Muir and The CEO of Disney, and awesome equipment and studios.

As for other majors, the Theatre school, music majors, and health majors, are all taken very seriously here. Some of the best programs to get you in shape for a job.

Campus Housing: Very close to all buildings

Athletics: This is a D3 School, so sports isn't exactly a big thing here. We have a couple of really big games the whole school go to, but other than that, sporting events are rarely attended.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: There is NO school spirit and there are NO sports games that people attend other than one every year, but the intramural sports are great and our teams are pretty awesome too.

Overall Experience: Look, this is tough. I love my program, but the atmosphere at this school is seriously lacking. It feels like nothing is happening and there is nowhere to go and nothing to do every single weekend.

Health & Safety: I feel generally very safe on campus. I've never had any major issues concerning safety, although there are a few sketchy spots that aren't so great to walk alone at night. Overall though it's fine.

Overall Experience: I've loved almost every professor I've had at this school. There are some really great educators here, and I think they make the experience at this college. They're pretty open to new ideas and active student discussion.

ALSO your question about "What girls on campus are like" was REALLY sexist and you should take it down.

Overall Experience: For my journalism degree, and the Park School of Communications as a whole, the alumni network is very strong. Alumni are a huge part of getting jobs for Park students.

I'm gonna say it again, your question about girls was sexist. Take it down.

Campus Housing: Campus housing is entirely average, unless you're living in Circle or Garden Apartments, which are much nicer than the dorms.

Athletics: I'm not involved in athletics at all so I have no idea.

Overall Experience: I love attending IC, especially for my programs. I am a double major in Journalism and Politics. Our journalism is one of the top 20 in the country, and that is made obvious from the quality of the professors and the content we are learning in our classes. The Politics department is also filled with great professors and interesting courses. I'm very involved in extracurriculars on campus, and I love that so far. It's really easy to get involved, and I think that's special.

Party Scene: If you come here and you aren't an antisocial, or too timid you will be fine. If you come here and are proactive in making friends, and really sociable YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT F***ING TIME! Just make sure that if you want to have the most fun, you have a fake ID.

Party Scene: On a weekend out you can expect frat/house parties from 8 - 12 PM. Greek life (off campus) is making a pretty big comeback. Kappa Sigma throw parties every now and then, Delta Kappa Epsilon throws them every weekend which are usually the best parties. AEPi also throws them sometimes. Sports teams also have parties every weekend (i.e. Football, Basketball, Lacrosse). The street to be on is Hudson, but Prospect, Pleasant are usually good too. People usually go to the bars at like 12, until they close. If you are want a little more then you can even go to Cornell for more bars or frat parties. The Party Scene here is LIT.

Academics: Some of the best professors and classes in the country, for certain majors. Excellent academics.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: The school is extremely accepting of all types of races, genders, etc. The only thing that could improve is a larger population of international students.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The campus housing is great for upper class-men, but terrible for under class-men. Circles and Garden apartments are great!

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Ithaca College is one of the top D3 schools for athletics. Unfortunately, due to the high number of students that are theatre, music majors, or people that just don't have any interest in sports, the school spirit can be lacking sometimes. NOT FOR CORTACA THOUGH!

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

When students are asked to evaluate their overall experience at IC, they often look at the lessons they learned both inside and outside of the classroom. Students who go beyond the social aspect of college and get involved end up both gaining the most experience and having the most fun. Many students love IC because of its size. Sometimes, it’s hard to walk anywhere on campus without bumping into someone you know. With such dreadfully cold winters, the academic programs and well-organized student groups are the main reasons students come back every year. Also, the great size allows students to connect with other students in their majors and their professors/advisers, as well.

Like many things in life, students’ experiences with IC are simply what they make of them. If you sit in your dorm room for four years, you will be miserable. If you experience the life Ithaca has to offer and go outside of your comfort zone, you most likely won’t regret your decision to attend IC. The school’s high retention rate proves this. IC offers a great mix of academics and everything else college life should offer—friends, fun, professional opportunities, active campus life, and a time to learn and grow.
