Health & Safety: I think all campuses can improve on their safety.

Campus Housing: My housing has worked out perfectly.

Party Scene: Best parties are at Kendall, penn, Columbia, coddington really any of the streets surrounding the college.

Party Scene: There are parties all over Thursday through Saturday, many parties take place in students rented houses, circles, block parties, etc. there are designated drinking days like cortaca, penn day, Kendall day, and many more. Always parties around every holiday, any theme you could think of, typical college party scene. Downtown is a great college town or IC students and Cornell it's always busy on weekends and have other events like trivia karaoke pong tourney mechanical bull etc.

Academics: I have minimal to no complaints about professors. I have no complaints about my PT major professors they are all great, the staff in the PT department are also all great. Registration sucks for undergrads it is made somewhat better if you took more classes the previous year or if you are honors you register before everyone. Popular study places are friends hall, library, music school, Hill center.

Diversity: Ithaca College and the surrounding community serves as a platform for people to share ideas and bring topics to spotlight.

Drug Safety: Not really sure about drug scene don't use them but know they are available. Personally I don't feel much pressure just make your own decisions and stick to it. For policy's you are allowed alcohol on campus/in dorms if you are 21 or older if not, no alcohol, pretty straight forward policy. There is an amnesty policy that if someone is sick from alcohol or drug use you can call and get them help without you or that person getting arrested, I think you can only use amnesty once or twice and you still have a judicial review or whatever at the school but it doesn't go on your criminal record.

Overall Experience: PT major, all the professors are great and truly care about their students. Lecture style learning first 3 years, undergrad, hands on and experimental learning for last 3 years, grad. Largest lecture class probably 150 students for undergrad, 95 students for grad lecture, around 25 in grad labs, smallest class was 5. There are a vast array of courses to be taken that give you a holistic undergrad experience.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: In my experience, professors are passionate about the classes that they teach, knowledgeable, approachable, and want their students to succeed. Most of the professors that I have had have gone above and beyond to help their students be the best that they can be.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I have never had a negative experience with campus safety and security. However, I have heard complaints from friends.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Campus housing isn't terrible, but it isn't the best either. The rooms are nice and the buildings are generally clean and well-maintained, but the social atmosphere isn't really there unless you make an effort to meet and plan events with others in your building.

Athletics: While there are a lot of student athletes at Ithaca College, athletics aren't a huge part of campus life. Sporting events are attended by interested students, but the majority of campus doesn't follow the sports teams.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Ithaca is a nice school with good academic programs and (in my experience) helpful professors who are passionate about the subjects that they teach. While the campus and the academic experience is nice, the social life on campus isn't the best. You really need to search for friends and activities to do on weekends.

Greek Life: Its mostly a music frat

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The housing system is not the best and the dinning situation is not my favorite but the school and the people are amazing.

Health & Safety: Public safety is great here, most of them are really out to protect you and are not there to get you in trouble.

5 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: Many opportunities for career exploration and advancement, career services is great. They set up a lot of job fairs and have drop in hours, alumni networks, mock interviews, workshops, really anything you could think of you just have to utilize it.

2 Recent Alumnus

Campus Housing: I hated living on campus, I moved off campus as soon as I could.

3 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: Sports aren't a huge thing at the school, but our teams do very well in their conferences. We do have one football game a year that is our big thing other then that attendance at sporting events are mediocre. People are encouraged to do club sports and intramurals and there are a ton to choose from.

Overall Experience: Ithaca College is a very unique school, there is always something happening on campus and there really is something for everyone.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: As I previously stated, I love the music school. The professors are wonderful, the education is well rounded, and the student body is supportive, friendly, and always willing to collaborate.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: To be honest, I don't know. I know that students of the music school, especially those who study music education, usually have no trouble finding jobs out of college.

When students are asked to evaluate their overall experience at IC, they often look at the lessons they learned both inside and outside of the classroom. Students who go beyond the social aspect of college and get involved end up both gaining the most experience and having the most fun. Many students love IC because of its size. Sometimes, it’s hard to walk anywhere on campus without bumping into someone you know. With such dreadfully cold winters, the academic programs and well-organized student groups are the main reasons students come back every year. Also, the great size allows students to connect with other students in their majors and their professors/advisers, as well.

Like many things in life, students’ experiences with IC are simply what they make of them. If you sit in your dorm room for four years, you will be miserable. If you experience the life Ithaca has to offer and go outside of your comfort zone, you most likely won’t regret your decision to attend IC. The school’s high retention rate proves this. IC offers a great mix of academics and everything else college life should offer—friends, fun, professional opportunities, active campus life, and a time to learn and grow.
