2 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The weather absolutely sucks for three quarters of the year, there are barely any campus events that involve everyone/are worth attending, and unless you're at the Park or Human Sciences schools you're definitely overpaying for a very average education.

Overall Experience: I feel like the school has way too many things going on before you arrive on campus. You have to fill out countless forms, take so many tests, etc.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: I don't live off campus but there are a lot of options.

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Circles is always promising because it's where most of my friends live, it's close, it's small, it's controlled, and fun. I only go to parties my friends throw or parties their friends throw.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: I love eating in Ithaca because you can always find something you want. It's fantastic. Taste of Thai, Diamonds, Moosewood...YAY.

4 College Sophomore

Administration: It is the perfect amount of strictness because we are people and they respect us.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I NEED MORE AID. ITHACA IS EXPENSIVE AND I CAN'T AFFORD IT.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Food: It would have been excellent to have more diverse vegan options to eat instead of the usual schedule I followed.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Very comfortable, close, and great environment to live in.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: My school is amazing and I wouldn't change it for the world.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Professors are extremely approachable, friendly, and interesting. Want to see you succeed. Courses are interesting and easy to succeed in. Class size is perfect to learn!

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Offers amazing internships and various study abroad programs that are beneficial, especially for TVR majors.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: Lots to offer, great restaurants, beautiful scenery!! Close proximity to the campus is very convenient

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: I feel comfortable and as if I fit into the school very well because of my dress/appearance, interests, social life, and relationships.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: feel very safe and they are very protective and helpful.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are a huge variety of options and great restaurants.

Athletics: Some people go to sporting events but they're not hugely attended.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Haven't experienced purchasing off-campus housing yet

3 College Sophomore

Administration: Depends on the professors and campus police officers

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Lots of different opportunities for scholarships

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Terraces are great socially but have gross showers

3 College Junior

Greek Life: From what I've heard, the Greek life around campus is kept at a minimum since most other students can do other recreational activities.

3 College Junior

Athletics: I may not be into sports, but I've heard that many students on my campus are into sports more than the average person.

3 College Junior

Party Scene: I don't normally go to parties. When I have the opportunity to attend they are usually those types of parties where people engage in marijuana. I'm not used to those types of parties, but I wish there was more of a variety and stonger poloicies of what to expect from better parties.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

When students are asked to evaluate their overall experience at IC, they often look at the lessons they learned both inside and outside of the classroom. Students who go beyond the social aspect of college and get involved end up both gaining the most experience and having the most fun. Many students love IC because of its size. Sometimes, it’s hard to walk anywhere on campus without bumping into someone you know. With such dreadfully cold winters, the academic programs and well-organized student groups are the main reasons students come back every year. Also, the great size allows students to connect with other students in their majors and their professors/advisers, as well.

Like many things in life, students’ experiences with IC are simply what they make of them. If you sit in your dorm room for four years, you will be miserable. If you experience the life Ithaca has to offer and go outside of your comfort zone, you most likely won’t regret your decision to attend IC. The school’s high retention rate proves this. IC offers a great mix of academics and everything else college life should offer—friends, fun, professional opportunities, active campus life, and a time to learn and grow.
