College Freshman

Greek Life: Theres no greek life here.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Could be better, but overall great condition.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Lots of options and well known places.

3 College Freshman

Administration: They do their job efficiently

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Some days are better than others.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Clean, relatively spacious, and safe.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of options when it comes to housing. Typically housing is on-campus in either circle apartments, terraces, garden, or emerson.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: I don't eat off campus. I either utilize the dining halls or the in-dorm kitchens.

4 College Freshman

Administration: The campus administration is very well used. I feel very safe on campus, and administration is always there to assist.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: IC offers a lot of scholarships, I just would appreciate more scholarship advantages.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: Theres always something going on or around campus. You can always have a great time.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: It is great most of the time, but sometimes it is repetitive.

5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Ithaca has a great campus, social, and all around its a great experience

3 College Freshman

Athletics: sporty students everywhere but it doesn't seem to be a big thing here

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: food options in the commons are FABULOUS. CTB, Alehouse, Reds, Moosewood, Waffle Frolic and so many more.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: Lots of party hopping as a freshman. find some ins with people that are in the few frats on campus

2 College Freshman

Campus Food: eh. Preparing us for our own cooking i guess

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: LIVE IN UPPER QUADS AS A FRESHMAN. It's the most central location and it is much more personal than towers! Clean, typical size rooms (unless you get a corner! Corner rooms are bigger), 2 lounges per quad. I dig them

1 College Freshman

Athletics: Nobody cares about sports here

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Plenty of places in collegetown to eat at, and most deliver.

2 College Freshman

Administration: The campus police will generally bust parties in dorms or on campus apartments, but I've never seen anyone get in really serious trouble for it.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: A lot of people have problems getting financial aid. If you were a good student in high school and are just looking for a bit of money to help offset the cost, you should be fine, but otherwise the school can be sort of unreasonable.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: If you are coming to college with the intention of partying, this is the place for you. If you aren't, well.. good luck.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Housing is too expensive and the lottery system is notoriously bad. Every dorm and every floor within dorms have different closets and layouts, so you'll want to try to look at a few different buildings and floors before housing selection.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: You have nothing to worry about as far as safety goes. This is a very safe campus.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

When students are asked to evaluate their overall experience at IC, they often look at the lessons they learned both inside and outside of the classroom. Students who go beyond the social aspect of college and get involved end up both gaining the most experience and having the most fun. Many students love IC because of its size. Sometimes, it’s hard to walk anywhere on campus without bumping into someone you know. With such dreadfully cold winters, the academic programs and well-organized student groups are the main reasons students come back every year. Also, the great size allows students to connect with other students in their majors and their professors/advisers, as well.

Like many things in life, students’ experiences with IC are simply what they make of them. If you sit in your dorm room for four years, you will be miserable. If you experience the life Ithaca has to offer and go outside of your comfort zone, you most likely won’t regret your decision to attend IC. The school’s high retention rate proves this. IC offers a great mix of academics and everything else college life should offer—friends, fun, professional opportunities, active campus life, and a time to learn and grow.
