5 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: IVC has a wide range of classes and class times. I was able to pick classes around my school schedule and take online classes if needed.

Online Courses: I love being able to take online courses during the summer or winter term because it helps me advance my time there and get out quicker. The teachers are helpful and the courses are great to choose from. The only issue which is unavoidable is that the courses are extremely fast passed.

Overall Experience: The courses that are offered at IVC are great! I've never had too much trouble getting into a class and I was able to connect with professor's right away. Class sizes aren't too large depending on the class that you take and taking summer classes is super easy to get into which is great if you want to advance your way out and into a 4 year university.

Overall Experience: I personally don't have a degree from this school because I'm looking to transfer but I do know that they have job fairs, and college fairs quite often that help you get connected. You're also able to get AA degrees before you transfer, which is nice.

Academic Experience: The teachers are great for someone who is a psychology major! I love being able to understand my teachers and know that if I don't understand something that they'll take the time to help me understand them. The psychology department also helps you get involved in research at a Community College level, which is great!

Overall Experience: I love going to IVC. The classes are great and the teachers have really helped me understand the topics that I'm learning about. The only downfall I've found is that sometimes the population on campus is a little hard to get to know if you aren't asian or middle eastern which is why I recommend becoming involved in a club or group.

Academic Flexibility: IVC is a pretty nice school to attend, especially since I live so close to it. My main complaint is that there aren't that many classes on Fridays but that's not that bad.

4 College Junior

Online Courses: I haven't done any sort of online courses, so I can't say for sure other than that I have friends who have and it wasn't terrible for them,

Career Services: We have a lot of career center stuff, and it's posted where a lot of people can see it, so that's very nice and convenient.

Overall Experience: My professors have all been very good teachers. Even my Communications teacher who was often late to class had some good insight on communicating.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I haven't done any internships with IVC, but I know my school has a lot of frequent workshops and career-centered days and events that I'm sure really help people.

Academic Experience: Irvine Valley college has a pretty decent art program, despite what others have told me. Many of my professors have also taught in Cal States and other universities, so it's nice not having to pay extra to get the same education at a more "prestigious" university.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: In my opinion, college has not been very difficult for me. That's why I like community college, because you don't have that much of the financial issues at other universities. As long as you don't spend most of your day goofing off, you'll do fine.

Academic Flexibility: As a high school student transferring their AP Calculus AB credit, I am one of the few lucky students that encountered few difficulties. As for many of my classmates, they had to waste time and money retaking a beginning calculus class because of a miscommunication between counselors and the credit agenda.

3 College Freshman

Career Services: In terms of providing career options for students to choose from. The career center offers workshops for students to enhance their job resume and transferring application.

Overall Experience: I will lay my review on two major core classes I've taken last semester:

Accelerated WR 399 is a class aimed at combining two prerequisite classes to help students be eligible for college writing. The class size was in the mid-twenties. I particularly like this class in that the reading materials mostly have to do with psychological, yet applicable topics relating to grit, motivation and habits. The professor focused less on handing out quizzes, but more on the quality of the group discussion that takes place in class. He does not provide as much quizzes. He really focus on our reflection of the topics at hand by having us engage in Socratic seminar-like discussions and requiring weekly blogs to be completed.

In Microeconomics 1 honors, the class size was also rather small. The main point about this class is that the professor constantly updates the students with world news regarding politics and business news that are applicable to microeconomics. This is not an assignment, but rather his passion towards introducing students to the fun and usefulness of the course. In take home assignments, students are assigned simple tasks that emphasize on the topics covered in class. Because the prompts were very broad in terms of clear instructions, students were encouraged to make applicable guesses, therefore each assignment from each student differs in the assumed circumstances. Through this diversity of results, the teacher as well as the students were able to gain interesting knowledge every time the homework is assigned.

Overall Experience: The Success Career center of this school constantly offers alumni talks relating to their respective majors on many different careers. On average, every month the center provides about four different career chats about different majors. They also provide resume workshops and introduce students to good networking alumni on LinkedIn.

Overall Experience: So far I am participating in a club called ASEC (Applied Science and Engineering Club) and it is very productive and useful for those applying to the engineering major. The reason for this is because students meet every other week to work on short projects geared towards a small competition at the end of the club through their use of creativity to cope with the limited supplies provided. Students built many projects, including: wind mills, solar energy-powered cars, durable earthquake resistant structures (tested by a tool that mimics earthquake movements). Students are also introduced to alumni and representatives from surrounding engineering universities. At these opportunities, alumni's are seated in a panel where they present about their success and offer tips to undergraduates.

Online Courses: The online classes are the best - convenient, interesting, and fun!

4 College Junior

Career Services: They have many workshops and many opportunities for career services.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: My school has so many opportunities and great faculty for specific majors.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: Not only are the class sizes small, but the teachers really care about the students. Plus, it is a great school if you want to transfer!

3 College Freshman

Academic Flexibility: Sometimes the professors can be difficult on helping you work around your schedule. Especially on Thanksgiving week, I had difficulty.

3 College Freshman

Career Services: I am not sure there is that option. I will have to explore that.

Overall Experience: Go to rate my teacher site
