There are eatery options all over New Rochelle, and all of the restaurants participating in the meal plan are within walking distance from Iona—the farthest place being a mile away, while the majority of places only takes a couple of minutes to get to. There are many options, like unhealthy spots that have the usual fried food fare or pizza, and other spots that have more health conscious choices. It is important that students are also given on-campus money because it could be easy to get carried away by eating just off campus, and a student could quickly run out of money.
Not all restaurants of course are on the meal plan. There are some really good options for Mexican food throughout New Rochelle, since the area has good representation here. There is also a Greek place nearby if students are looking to try something different. A mile away from campus, heading away from downtown New Rochelle, there are different restaurants from which to choose, and it is not uncommon at all for students to head in this direction for food. The prices at the eateries near Iona are really reasonable. If students ever run out of money, it is because they ended up buying too much food, not because they were overcharged for food.
