New Rochelle is the ideal place for a student seeking a small college that isn't so far removed from the real world. Living in New Rochelle, there are plenty of options for entertainment. Nearby, there is New Roc City, an entertainment complex that has movies, arcade games, laser tag, bumper cars, bowling, an indoor go-cart track, and restaurants. If a person is more receptive to the outdoors for relaxation, there is a pond and woods a couple of blocks down the street from Iona. If these options are not enough, there is the alternative of taking a train to Manhattan. In the city, there are limitless things to do for fun, including plays, sporting events, bars, and sightseeing.

Even though there is much to do in the area, the campus does tend to clear out on certain weekends. The reason for this is that there are students that live nearby and seek to take advantage of long holiday weekends to see their family. While this may happen on occasion, there are always enough people around to do something. There is a mix of people that likes to stay on or off campus for entertainment. Some students like to always go out to the city every weekend, while other students like to take a break and hang out in the dorms. It really comes down to what you make of it when socializing.
