Overall Experience: Well all students are offered the opportunity to do TAing in their third year of academic work. In addition TA positions are offered outside of 3rd year students and so is Post Doc positions, not many though. I think they should work on this more in regards to helping students get these internships at other institutions. As far as jobs go, this is an accredited PhD program with HIGH standards. In my experience all the students who have graduated have either gone on to teach, get better writing jobs or get positions in higher institutions. A few students have gone on to do Post Doc or residencies.

Overall Experience: The residencies are life changing. The faculty is astounding, knowledgable and one of a kind. There are still some problems with the school functioning 100% as it is a new school. Schedules and syllabus's change and the students are not always notified properly. I would say the main down side of the school is that they need to learn to communicate with the students properly and organize themselves better when it comes to the online part of the school.

Health & Safety: There has been one incident that I am aware of that happened on a residency. It was not from someone at the school but a person on the street assaulted a student. The student was very upset by the incident. As a result drastic measures were taken by the school to insure the future safety of students on the residencies.

Campus Housing: This question is hard to answer as this is a residency program. The campus at Brown is horrible in my opinion. It is hard to believe that the school is considered Ivy League. The water was red coming out of the facet and the campus food was below subpar. However the hotels on the residencies are usually pretty nice. The NYC and Berlin hotels are exceptional. The student meals out as a community are pretty average.

Greek Life: These questions should be optional. Once again these questions are for a traditional university, they do not apply to art school.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I did not give this school 5 stars because it is a relatively new school. As a result there are pros and cons to that. They are open for suggestions for improvement with student experiences but they are still working through some issues. The school is extremely challenging and requires 110% of your effort. If you want an easy art school go to Transart in Berlin. If you want something that will expand your consciousness than choose IDSVA.

Athletics: We do not have sports at a PhD school for the arts. The only art school in the USA that has a sports team is the Academy of Art SF.
