1 College Freshman

Greek Life: No Greeks Here – The Greek life on campus is practically non-existent.

Diversity: Mainly White Population – There isn't a lot of diversity on campus at IWU. There are mostly white students. I don't feel that other races are discriminated against, I just think that they are in the minority. I occasionally encounter students of different races, but the majority of students in the classes I am in are white.

Technology: Not Very Convenient to Use – The dorms do not have wireless internet. We can print in the library, but we have to pay for the paper that we use. The computers in the library are not the newest computers. It has been extremely helpful to have my own printer in my room. It also has been helpful to have my own computer, as the library is inconvenient during the busy times of the semester.

Off-Campus Housing: Highly Recommended to All – Great choices and locations. Affordable housing and safe environment to live in.

Scholarships: One thing that I love about Indiana Wesleyan University is that they did everything within their power to make it possible for me to attend their college. They know that it is harder to go there because it is a private school, making it more expensive. They were very helpful and genuinely involved in the financial aid process.

Athletics: Go Wildcats – Indiana Wesleyan University doesn't have much when it comes to sports. The main sports that we have are basketball and soccer, we don't have football but the school is in the process of making that happen. One thing I do like is that female and male sports seem to be treated equally.

Academics: Profs Genuinely Care – I have enjoyed almost all of my profs that I have had from both the education and art departments (I am an Art Education Major). They really care about you as a student and how they can help you improve. Some of the profs may be seen as too tough or hard to please, but they are very purposeful with how they give criticism.

Weather: Because IWU is located in Indiana, you should expect drastic weather changes. Also, campus is usually known for being pretty windy.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Consistent Campus Police Presence = Safe Campus – Campus Police are patrolling campus 24 hours a day. Although Marion's crime rate is a little too high for comfort, I always feel safe on campus. If you feel unsafe walking to your car or back to your dorm late at night, you can call campus police and they will escort you for safety. Campus crime is incredibly low, almost non-existent.

Drug Safety: No Drugs Here – As far as I know, there are little to no drugs present at Indiana Wesleyan. I have never heard of or seen anyone doing drugs on our campus. There may be a few people who smoke, but even that it pretty much unheard of.

Party Scene: Stay on Campus – Your best option for something to do in the evenings is to either stay on campus or to drive to Kokomo where there is better shopping and dining options. I prefer to stay on campus and hang out with friends, maybe rent a movie from the campus rental store.

Local Area: I would rate the atmosphere of Marion with a B-. I am giving it this grade because there isn't a whole lot for college students to do in the area. I know there is a bowling alley and a few parks, but that is about it. Marion is great for food and grocery shopping, but lacks activities for us to take part in.

Campus Quality: This is a difficult question to answer, as my courses are online. But from what I understand the facilities are wonderful.

Administration: This is a question I really can't answer, as my classes are online.

Campus Quality: Unique Parts of IWU – One of the most unique part of IWU that I am most closely associated with is the Leadership program that is offered here. It is one of the most practical up and coming majors that anyone can take, and it transforms peoples lives. This major can easily be tacked onto any other major, or one can dive into it to its fullest for an opportunity to experience a major at its fullest. It also provides an abundance of practical opportunities that consist of real world experiences, practical learning, and travel/study abroad.

4 College Junior

Transportation: Simply, a majority of students on campus have vehicles or have friends with vehicles and tend to ride share. There are no easy options for other means of transportation, so people share cars, walk, or ride bikes. Indianapolis airport is close as well if people need to travel long distance and have no other rides traveling the same direction. We also make available to students a way in which anyone can hook up with people who may be traveling similar directions.

Athletics: Sports Are Good for a Private Christian School – Athletes at Indiana Wesleyan University do very well in the sports that are offered, but because the schools is small fan support, and school spirit vary according to the particular sport. Most fan support come from general sports fans versus loyal fans. The school does offer fantastic athletic facilities, that allow athletes to perform their best and do quite well.

Scholarships: The process for adding scholarships at Indiana Wesleyan University to my account went very smoothly. The scholarships I was eligible for showed up on my account without application. I gave IWU a B+ because even though it went smoothly, the amount due for each year is approximately 30,000. Even with approximately 10-20,000 dollars in financial aid a year, it is very hard to pay the rest. I have taken out loans privately and through the government, and it is all piling up now.

Diversity: Indiana Wesleyan University welcomes diversity! Primarily, the white race makes up the bulk of this university. I gave them a C+ still, because the students and faculty make it a priority to change this. There are Diversity Coordinators on every unit of the residence halls, and there are many off campus groups who go out to different places in the community to serve and make relationships. This University is full of pride and love!

Campus Housing: When you walk across Indiana Wesleyan University there is beautiful art, nature, and beautiful people. There is strong joy from the students and faculty; each with a God-given sense of purpose, pursuing their calling through educating or being educated.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Financial aid is the reason many people(including atheists) choose IWU. Ironically, financial problems are the reason that many students do not come back. Personally, IWU did not offer me much aid apart from an academic scholarship.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Who Really Knows? There are strict policy against drug usage. There are many students who will 'joke' about going out to get high or to smoke a cigarette, but who knows if they are being serious.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There Are Options – If you have the money to spare and a car to get around, there are plenty of restaurants within 5 minutes of iwu.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Use Online Courses – I cannot rate how the actual campus in Marian, IN is because I live in Indianapolis, IN and attend my classes online with IWU. I, however, have really enjoyed my online experience with IWU. The staff is very helpful, the classes are well laid out, and the tech support is great.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: Permit parking at Indiana Wesleyan is only ten dollars for an entire year, which is not bad at all. Fines are about twenty-five dollars. There is not much need for a car to get around campus (which is very compact) but it's always nice to have a car to get off campus for a Walmart run or for church. The availability of spaces for underclassmen could be better; there are always a lot of open spots in upperclassmen parking while the underclassmen lots are overfull, but all in all the situation is not terrible.
