Transportation: The only way you're getting to town is walking (about a half mile) or taking a car. No other options. Except maybe a bike or long board. (good luck in the winter)

3 Recent Alumnus

Technology: Wireless in most classroom buildings and newer dorms, but a lot of dorms still aren't wi-fi enabled.

Off-Campus Dining: Nothing special. Pizza hut, McDonalds, KFC, Steak and Shake, Burger King, Papa Johns.

4 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: Intramurals are huge on campus, almost every guy competes in flag football during the fall, and attendance dwindles as the seasons progress. Basketball in the winter is big intramural and varsity and well as intramural indoor soccer.

Local Area: The town is horrible. Very bad school systems, crime ridden, high unemployment rate. And a lot of locals don't like the white, rich students.

Overall Experience: I met some very cool people and best friends at the school, but overall I would never go there again. I went in as a Christian and left as an atheist. I couldn't believe the lack of critical thinking on the campus. A good amount of students (especially in the communications department) thought they were the most amazingly intelligent people in the world. In reality they weren't any smarter than the average person.

Campus Quality: Overall the facilities are great! Newer buildings, nice (but small) weight room. Lots of gym space to play basketball or indoor soccer.

Party Scene: It's a Christian school, if you get caught drinking (on or off campus) you get kicked out of school or in big trouble. A few people have parties but there isn't much drinking at them.

Campus Housing: I was in a brand new building so that was good. Campus dies in the winter (because it's freezing outside). Not a huge sports school but our soccer teams usually do well. And basketball gets good attendance.

Scholarships: The transfer scholarships are very good. Other than that it's kind of a hassle and I had to check on it every once and a while and beg for more or threaten to transfer.

Academics: Communications department has a ton jerk bag professors. I had three different advisors my three years there. One professor is legitimately autistic and is a laughingstock of anyone who has ever taken any of his classes.

Two others are so full of themselves is laughable. One does a local TV show in rural Indiana and thinks he's the man. Another used to do radio talk shows in rural PA and now it grasping to some idea that radio is making a comeback.

They just hired a PR professor from Korea and she is very out of touch, hard to understand, and unable to connect with students. Her first year she made at least three senior girls cry.

Academics: Depends what major. Nursing and ministry are top programs. Our communications department is kind of a joke.

Athletic Training is supposed to be pretty good.

Administration: When I was at school they had two rules that have just been overturned. No "R" rated movies and no "M" rated video games.

Each dorm only had three visit days (when members of the opposite sex can come to the dorm room) per week. And very limited hours. You also had to keep a light on when they were up there and keep the door opened. RA's were expected to walk around make sure nothing was going on every night. It was a lot like babysitting (I was an RA two years).

If a girl gets knocked up she will get kicked out of the school but the guy will only get disciplined.

It's a backwards place.

Parking: I lived in the brand new building that had a parking lot very close to the dorm. Unfortunately it was very poorly ran. Underclassmen (half the residents of the building) had to park across the street, it doesn't sound like far, but in the freezing winter it really sucked.
The main parking lot was huge, but we were only allowed to use four or five of the rows, which stretched almost to the underclassman parking lot. The remaining 70% of the parking lot was reserved for staff, faculty, and commuters (only account for like 15% of the student body) Never enough to fill it up.

Weather: I'm from the Northeast, so coming to Indiana was pretty awful. It's very hot in the summer and first few months of fall, and humid. Then in the winter the campus turns into a huge wind tunnel and the weather is very cold and the wind chill is freezing. Not a lot of snow but a decent amount of ice.

Diversity: IWU is almost entirely a white, republican, evangelic christian community. I only knew of 10 or so African-American students on campus during my three years there, and I think that says something if people are keeping track. There was a hate crime there my senior year that the administration made a big deal about (and rightfully so).

Almost every person you talk to comes from a typical christian family and at least 25% of students are preacher's kids.

Campus Food: Lots of dining areas, including buffet, and take out meals. Pizza, Chinese, burgers, Chick-Fil-A, and a sub line are all included on the dining plan.

3 Recent Alumnus

Health & Safety: Safety on campus is good, but the surrounding area is extremely bad. We've had multiple cases of girls being raped while living right off campus

Guys & Girls: The guys and girls on campus are always very modest and take pleasure in making sure that they respect each other at all times.

Diversity: The diversity on campus is incredible, probably one of the best International Student programs I have ever experienced.

Majors: I have not had an internship yet, I am only a freshman.

College Freshman

Majors: I am pre-declared, so I do not know what I am going to do right now but the teachers and the faculty are very good at helping you choose a major that fits you well.

Off-Campus Housing: You don't want to live off campus in Marion, IN. Although, Indiana Wesleyan is one of the safest campuses in the United States, Marion is not a safe city.

Weather: If you move to the Midwest you should expect the weather that comes with it. Do not expect sunshiny days after September, it starts to get cold very quickly.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: We do have an honor policy against drug and alcohol use, as well as other things, but there have been only rumors of drinking and drug use by students (isolated rumors at that).
