Guys & Girls

{{ error }}
4 College Senior

Guys & Girls: Typical students are friendly and helpful during classes and group projects. IUPUI is a commuter campus and it's very obvious. Most of the students are ready to leave right when their classes are finished for the day. I only have interaction with other students in class or group projects, usually.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: We are a pretty average looking school. The guys are cute. The girls are cute. Everyone is cute. Everyone dresses cute.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Being a liberal arts school, a lol of the people here are unique and diverse. Lots of hipsters and people doing their own thing. Everyone is kinda doing their own thing, but I you talk to someone they're usually super friendly and outgoing. The people at IUPUI are quiet but great.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Lots of pretty girls, but they are dedicated to school.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: There's a few attractive girls on campus. Almost all of them are already dating people already though so don't get your hopes up. A lot of the guys just like to bro it up and hang out with their fraternities all the time which is just a joke.

Hookups and hotties are not very big concerns for most IUPUI students. Several of the students here are actually married and have established family lives outside of their academics. Younger single students look for hookups by hanging out at clubs or bars after class. Or, they simply go on a date; however, the dating scene is not a big deal. There is also not very much competition for guys and girls, partly because the average student is 25 years old and in a relationship. Although, some people do come to class overdressed and looking for more than an education—these people stick out like sore thumbs. It’s more accepted to be casual and non-competitive in the social scene at IUPUI. The competitive dating scene usually consists of a younger, more traditional set of students.

Despite all of this, guys and girls comingle for so many different reasons—study groups, student organizations, lunch, dinner, or just hanging out on the campus lawn. There are also the annual Homecoming and Spring dances attended by some students. These dances are typically tame and respectful by most standards. In general it is quite easy to make new friends and to find good groups with whom to congregate. The social life is satisfying at IUPUI.

Social Scene
The social scene at IUPUI typically revolves around studying or participating in extracurricular activities. Because IUPUI is not a traditional campus where Greek life and social organizations are highly present, it lacks in what most college students would consider a lively social scene. However, because of the nature of the unique social scene at IUPUI, the people that you meet are typically engaged, intelligent individuals. It's always easy to find someone with similar interests-but not as easy to get drunk and "hook up" while on campus.
Hookups or Relationships?
There are several relationships on campus that usually begin and flourish at IUPUI. There are actually a great number of married couples that attend school together. If you plan on getting in a relationship at IUPUI, plan on a serious commitment.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
For students that are sincerely interested in meeting one another on a very casual basis, there are house parties and apartment parties that take place near and on campus. The Campus Apartments on the Riverwalk usually have something going on, as far as drinking and partying is concerned. However, the best and most frequent way to meet someone is by e-mailing them or asking them out after class. IUPUI students are generally pretty busy people, sometimes with full-time jobs and family life, so meeting places for guys and girls tend to be classrooms or study groups.
Dress Code
Students basically wear whatever the heck they want to wear. Most students wear extremely comfortable clothing and look like they're ready to just kick back and watch television-jeans, T-shirts, sweatshirts, and so forth. There are a few students that dress up so much that it seems as if they probably don't have too much time to study. Sometimes, I wonder if some of the students are just there to get a date. But for the most part, students are very laid-back and dressed for studying.
