Off-Campus Dining

{{ error }}
4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Honestly, the food off-campus is more often than not more tasty than on-campus dining. It allows for more variety and a much-needed break from Saga food. However, it does take more effort to get to, but the cost is not that much different that campus food.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Bloomington/Normal has some of the best restaurants in Illinois! Just yesterday I went to a vegan cafe and didn't even know it until we walked out. So good!

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Not many options other than the usual fast food and chain

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are plenty of places where you can get food off-campus. Many places deliver and deliver at night so it's nice. Specficially D.P. Dough and Insomnia Cookies are extremely popular and are local restaurants, but we also have a lot of chain restaurants.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: The Off-campus dining is ok. Restaurants should be open later since it is a campus town and there should be more vegetarian/vegan options. Many people want to be able to go out and eat healthy options as well.

There is an incredible amount of places to eat off campus. Everything from pizza to Chinese to Thai to sushi to burgers and fries. A number of these places are within walking distance of IWU. Downtown Bloomington is home to a nice mix of affordable, locally owned eateries and franchise restaurants. There are also numerous ethnic grocery stores nearby. There are two Mexican stores, an Indian grocery, and an organic foods store. This makes dining at home an experience as well.

Unfortunately for Wesleyan students, there are many restaurants on the other side of town that a lot of students never experience because they aren't aware of them. Most will never make it to some of the restaurants because they are just too out of the way, but there are so many choices nearby that it really doesn't matter. Most places in town know the location of IWU, so you rarely have to explain to the delivery driver which building of what campus you're on. People say that Bloomington residents dine out more per capita than anywhere else in the Midwest. The combination of a wide variety of restaurants, affordable meals, and easy access makes the same hold true for IWU students.
