Students at Illinois Wesleyan are not heavy drug users. Students are much more likely to be caught with a cup of beer in their hand than a joint. Still, a number of students choose to smoke weed, though they are in the minority. Smokers generally do so in the privacy of their rooms or apartments. Drugs are not prevalent at parties, so there's no pressure to take part. In fact, even if you wanted to toke up at a party, you might have trouble finding someone to join you. There are small pockets of students who enjoy a little after-class indulgence, and they don't make it a well-known habit of theirs—for good reason. Possession of marijuana was downgraded to an ordinance violation in neighboring Normal, but it is still punishable by arrest in Bloomington.
There really is not much of a drug scene at IWU. It's safe to say that no one is trafficking drugs onto campus. Weed comes onto campus off the streets of Bloomington. Harder drugs are virtually nonexistent. Raves never really caught on, and only a small portion of the student body has experimented with cocaine. Other drugs, like mushrooms and acid, can be sought out, but they are never advertised. The drug of choice at IWU is alcohol, without exception.
