Greek Life

Greek Life: I've never really had any experience with Greeks on campus. I do know the captain or head of the fraternity at ISU and he' very nice doesn't act any different than a normal person on campus towards you.

Greek Life: I really don't hear much about them. they're good at getting club funding, and they have a house close to campus for parties (which I've heard suck a little bit). Few girls go, and they're never there long. It's a dry campus, so that probably inhibits it. I don't know why, but we have very few Greek organizations. I heard it rumored that there was a scandal years back that shut down Greek life entirely and it just never really came back strong. That's a rumor though, I have no concrete knowledge of why Greek life is pretty small. It could be because we have lots of non traditional students. I do t mind not having Greek life though. I'm a traditional straight-out-of-high school student, and we can throw our own private parties that get fairly large. You always meet someone new at a friends party, and always have fun.

Greek Life: I don't know much about the Greek life because I only commute to Idaho State.

2 College Junior

Greek Life: Greek Life just isn't a big thing at Idaho State. I wish It was because I went to University of Idaho my freshman year and the Greek system there is very large and they do many good things for the community. If Idaho State had a better Greek opportunity I bet it would hugely impact the campus in a positive way.

Greek Life: Greek life does not have a big impact on the non-Greeks. Greek life is not what I thought it would.

Greek life at ISU is not extremely popular. Most students don't even know that there are any fraternities or sororities on campus at all. The fact that the majority of the student body is LDS definitely adds to it, but it also just comes down to the fact that Greek life never has been a big attraction for ISU students. But this is not to say that things can't change. ISU Greek life is changing all the time.

All of the fraternities and sororities have joined together under one common mission: to change the perception of students' view of Greek life and show what they can do for each individual. The ISU Greek organizations are a major part of the service projects on campus and in the community. ISU Greek life is different than most university Greek organizations. ISU is strictly a dry campus. The fraternities still hold their own events with alcohol, but they claim to do it responsibly through designated drivers and alcohol awareness events. The sororities claim to be strictly dry sororities. Even though these Greeks may not be drunken, crazy partiers, they still find ways to help out and have their own kind of fun.
