Health & Safety

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: Our university police department work hard to create a safe space. My freshman year of college, 3 friends and I went out to eat at a local diner and returned back on campus very late into the night. We came across a student who seemed a little off and made us feel unsafe. My friends and I went to the nearest emergency box that contacts the police and asked for help. They responded immediately and sent out patrol cars right away. The faulty and staff, as well as the students, are all serious about making the campus and the community a safe place to live in and to seek help.

Health & Safety: The problem is not the campus. It is the some of the people who don't see things like this as a problem- whether it be their actions or someone else's. You just have to be conscious and careful with who you surround yourself with because some people don't know their boundaries, and that is when things get dangerous.

Health & Safety: I feel safer on campus with the 'Blue light' system with the university police department, you can just pick up a phone located under the blue lights and someone will answer and come to help with whatever.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The clubs that participate in sexual violence on campus are very supportive and promote themselves a lot. They try to get people to understand the dangers and people really do take part and take it seriously. I feel safe when walking around on campus but obviously with friends. They have these posts where you can call campus police everywhere and they can escort you wherever and can reach you within two minutes. The forest can be kinda scary at night and pitch black. Best to bring around friends and always keep a flashlight handy because there can be power outages due to rain and storms and wind.

Health & Safety: In my experience I have felt very safe on campus. I have not encountered any crime or conflict between students. The campus police provide the special service of free rides at any time of day if a student feels unsafe going home.
