4 College Sophomore

Academics: Professors are cool. Registration can be a hassal, especially in FA office. As long as you keep a schedule and stick to it then the work is manageable, it's easy to not do homework because you forget sometimes. You can really study anywhere you want on campus, even in the forest.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Its a science school honestly, and the rest of the majors are widespread

5 College Freshman

Academics: Help those in need of a major.

Academics: Many upper division courses are only available for 1 time with only 1 professor teaching the class.

Not many online courses are offered.

I noticed that this campus does not offer enough studying areas for students. The library is outdated, small and cannot fit all HSU students during finals week.

Registration is not great either, but that's the school's intention.

Workload of classes is expected and not rigorous.

Academics: I can't say enough great things about the faculty at this school. The courses are good, though it can be tough to get the classes you need (at least in the biology dept.) because of the ever increasing enrollment and lack of funds to open up more sections. For motivated students, the amount of research opportunities and hands on experience you can get at HSU is simply wonderful. Instructors are very receptive to mentoring students who want to engage in long term research projects; this alone will give you a leg up on students who graduate from larger, more prestigious institutions.

There is definitely a massive lack of study space at this school, and in Arcata overall. This is because everything closes so damn early around town and on campus, causing our one and only library to get overwhelming crowded during the semester.
