Campus Resources: Excellent allied health/sciences building although the main library needs to be updated.

Academic Flexibility: Some classes are only offered once a semester, which can make it difficult to schedule around.

Overall Experience: HCC has so much to offer students that they too often don't even realize exist. It's a great place to be, especially if you can't afford to spend six figures on a college education and want to explore the different academic fields and career options out there.

Overall Experience: Excellent professors. Excellent class options and sizes. So much to do on campus. The faculty at HCC really are there to help you and wish the best for their students. Going to HCC was an awesome experience. Locals look down on HCC students because they didn't go to "real" college right out of high school, but choosing community college first was the smartest decision I could have made.

Overall Experience: Going to HCC to get my associate's degree was the best decision I could have made for myself. I didn't know what I wanted to study after high school and I had no money to pay for a four-year school. HCC exposed me to different fields so I could find one that I was passionate about for the most affordable price out there. As I am now about to graduate, I feel more confident in my future plans and abilities because of my experiences at HCC.

Online Courses: I took one online course over winter break. It was insanely easy and I felt like I didn't have to work at all. I didn't retain any of the information required for the class and would not even know who my professor was if I ran right into her on campus. It was an easy A for me in a subject I had absolutely no interest in, but I would not recommend online classes for students who actually want to learn about their major or career field.

Student Body: There's a lot of diversity on the HCC campus, but people tend to stay with their cliques. There's definitely some carry over of the high school stereotypes like jocks, artsy kids, stoners, video game nerds, etc. People seem to be more willing to intermingle than most high school students, but it's not perfect. The racial diversity is very apparent on campus. However, the LGBT community is not very prevalent on campus, nor are any ethnic or cultural clubs or groups. Students are not politically active on campus either. Students don't hang out much on campus. Most students seem to come to campus, go to class, and go home or hang out somewhere else.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I have received financial aid from both HCC and outside scholarships. The financial aid office is always very pleasant and helpful when I speak with them, and dealing with paying my bill, setting up a payment plan, or making sure a payment went through is easy between the staff in the financial aid office and the online resources available. HCC is dirt cheap compared to four-year institutions, and it was definitely worth every penny.

Career Services: I have not used the resources at the career center or connected with any alumni networks, as I have not yet graduated.

Academic Experience: I love being a Sociology major at HCC. The professors are excellent, and I have learned so much about the world and about myself from my two years at HCC. Some classes were not as in-depth as I anticipated, but I can't think of any overwhelmingly negative experiences I've had while in the Sociology program. Most SOCI classes require a lot of reading and writing, but that only better prepares students for transferring and working in the field. Overall, my experience has been a positive one.

Academic Experience: Most classes and professors are excellent. The math department is a bit lackluster. Class registration is simple, but some classes can fill up quickly. It can be a bit overwhelming to stay on top of all of the classes you need to take, but there are plenty of advisers who are ready and willing to help you plan your schedule.

Campus Resources: People knock on community colleges as being "fake" colleges or "13th grade". HCC, although not the most academically challenging school out there, has a lot of resources to offer students if they were more willing to explore everything on campus. There are events happening on campus all the time, including guest speakers, film viewings, art shows, theater productions, service opportunities, and so much more. If people took the time to embrace everything HCC has to offer, I think they's feel more positively towards the school and the community college experience.

Campus Resources: Very helpful professionals and environment

Campus Resources: Being in the dental hygiene program we are required to do research papers and the campus offers an online library such as texshare to find scholarly journals and articles to benefit us. The instructors are very understanding at let us come in early and practice instrumentation and help us with whatever we may be struggling with.

3 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: Certain classes are only scheduled for one time, so it's hard to work it into your personal/work schedule. Understandable because it's a smaller school, but be prepared to have absolutely no social life during the semester.
