2 College Freshman

Technology: I like the fact that they give you a decent amount of money for printing papers and whatnot. However, that's your money that you're using anyways so it's not like they do it for you. The network connection and speed are sooooooo bad. So bad. It constantly cuts out or stops working and whenever it's a busy part of the year, it gets so much worse because everyone's using it. You definitely need your own laptop if you ever want to get things done. You don't need a printer though, it takes up more space than you'd ever want it to.

1 College Sophomore

Technology: The wifi connection is awful. It's inconsistent and often unreliable is crucial situations. The library is the only spot on campus with a decent connection. There were times in my dorm last year that the connection would be bad right when I was in the middle of saving papers or tests. There is one open computer lab that stays open all night though at least.

3 College Senior

Technology: The wireless needs a lot of work because it doesn't work half the time, but overall Hiram is good with technology.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: They're Ok – The computers are older, but work fine. The main problem is the printers. They like to go offline and if you decide to print something just before class, chances are the rest of the campus is doing the same thing and you'll have a network and computer jam. The network itself is much better now that they've re-done everything with the wireless.

4 College Junior

Technology: Eh... Fine – There is Wifi all over campus and students are supposed to have laptops. There is always a way to find a computer on campus and they usually aren't full. Any student with an ID can borrow a laptop from either the library or welcome cener for periods of time.

Hiram has recently updated its wireless to work just about everywhere on campus. All students are required to have a laptop, and the College provides free Wi-Fi access to them. The school also allots each student with a $30 account balance each semester for printing in the labs, but the labs are often of below-average quality. Many computers and printers just don't work. Generally, some dorms have computer labs—some don't.

Overall, if you get a computer, you will only use the school computers for printing. Getting your own printer isn't recommended because it is expensive and slow compared to the school printers.
