Overall Experience: For me this school was not the right fit, except during my 1st semester. It lacks all the things that I look for in college; such as a Greek life, a community life on campus. It is ment for people that are going back to school or just want to go to class then go home.

Academic Flexibility: To start I have notice that down of my friends that go to large universities often have to go to school 4 days a week because they cannot find classes, this has never been an issue for me I have always had my classes on Tuesday and Thursday. That does include some night classes, they also offer fast track classes during the summer and during winter break. The transferring of my credit seem to be very easy as long as I had my AA. There were no hassles that I really encountered with the exception of verifying a good social standing with the school.

Online Courses: I really like online classes due to there easy accessibility. The course is already all laid out the day you log into the account, which is done on Canvas. The professors are willing to help you just have to email them, of times you will not get them to answer the phone unless you already set up a meeting. The students don't really talk to each other for the most part however that never bugged me.

Career Services: Like I said there's really no much of that at my community college because it's just step one. There is a career center at my school which can help get you a job while in college and can help in transferring to a different college to further ones degree.

Overall Experience: You never really know what you are going to get it just all depends on the professor and their style. I do enjoy the small class size of at max 35 students, however this does not make it more hands on. I didn't have an issue with transferring my credits so I would say the quality of the courses are good.

Overall Experience: I don't think my school really has this because they are a community college so it's just step one to a good degree in my personal option.

Academic Experience: It is a good start to getting my BSN, community college does ease you into harder classes.

Overall Experience: I wanted to get a college experience, like a community but I did not get this here. Which is why I am transferring .

Academic Flexibility: I've had a recurring problem with transferred credits - particularly one course, CGS 1000. I've had to request my registration status be updated every semester because of this issue.

3 College Junior

Online Courses: I enjoy online courses because they're convenient, and easier to track progress and status throughout the course (i.e. grades are usually posted quickly after each assignment). However, you need an instructor who is willing to provide material and insight beyond "read this chapter." Having an engaged instructor makes a difference!

Overall Experience: Of the four instructors I've had, only one was fully engaged and invested in teaching.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: The instructors are a mixed bag, and the distance learning courses aren't really taught. More like "read this chapter and complete these exercises/labs." But you can apply as a transient student for courses across the state, while remaining enrolled at your home institution.

Academic Flexibility: As a dual enrollment student at first it was diffcult for me to manage my high school schedule with my college schedule but thankfully HCC offers most course subjects with a variety of time frames so over time I leanred what times worked for me, and what did not

Most students agree that their overall experience at Hillsborough College has been a good one. HCC has several comprehensive academic programs, and the great thing about being enrolled in specified programs is usually you have a small roster of professors who teach all of the required classes. That way, you’re able to build rapport with those professors and establish a great working relationship.

Students rely on the ability to mix and match their classes each semester, with some classes on campus and some distance learning (online) classes. Doing so gives them the ability to take care of their responsibilities at home with their families and still get all of their school work completed. Most of the faculty at HCC consider their students to be an extension of their family and are committed to making their success a reality. They offer the students guidance and support so that the students never feel alone in the process.

So, whether you go to HCC to perfect a skill or complete an entire program, you’ll find that the school can be your constant home for learning. Students there highly recommend HCC to anyone, of any age, who is interested in making an investment toward their future!
